No, The last Friday meet that comes to mind must have been about 3 years ago now, around July / August 2012 at DET 5 on Sukhumvit Soi 8. More recently (sic!) a few of us got together at Molley Mallones on Soi Convent and that was 14 months ago, I remember that one because I arranged it on a trip home from VN. Since board membership has declined to a trickle there are not that many visitors in town anymore and the weekly meetings attendances dwindled to the same 4-5 faces week in / week out so it was decided to knock them on the head.. Modus Operundi now is if one has an idea for a meet just post time / date / location in this thread and a few people will probably get together if available which is what I did last time

The same thing happened with the Apple TV they ditched Youtube from Version 1 and 2 and now only available on 3 and 3A I, or should I say the wife, use mine mainly as a wireless interface between phone / tablet / laptop and TV most Thai TV channels are available online so she watches that during the day when I am at work. As for Youtube well just access it from a device and mirror it via Apple TV. Movies I just download torrents, fire up Vuze in the office first thing in the morning and just download every day, being the network administrator I have blocked all the locals access to download and streaming sites but us expats can still use it.

Coss One is splitting hairs my friend and you know it, I am too wise to be drawn into such an argument. UK Society 2010's is a different place than UK 1960's , don't get me wrong I thought i was a socialist in its true meaning but todays society seems to be taking the piss. The "I Want it all now" people claiming poverty yet still have the maens to post "Selfies"in social media , wankers the lot of them. I am more than happy to contribute to an educational and health welfare state but I am not happy to pay for the scroungers, which unfortunately the UK is becoming. I was a 60's adoptee child, sort of "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" attitude towards my adoptive parents when I was 16 years old, don't get me wrong i love my adoptive parents but I would never be a burden upon them or the state. Society owes one nothing, I get up off my skinny arse and play the game called life

I Thought Australian and Disabled were mutually compatible terms. Child Poverty is that my friggin' problem? NO WAY. Why should I as a single middle income earner be expected to hand over 60% of my salary to support a welfare state? FUCK no way (yes I did shout) Work my arse off in UK to pay tax to support baby factories and immigrants,no way! I may be a little crazy but not stupid, for me I prefer working away and finance myself, SELFISH? hell yes som nam na. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A-hqZf7xQs

Mr Specialist, one does appear to have a limited knowledge on isolations and safeguarding systems. For a start, the kill switch is NEVER used for isolations, a kill switch (aka Emergency Shutdown Push Button) is wired into the PRIORITY SHUTDOWN circuit of the robots MCC (Motor Control Circuit) other inputs in this circuit may include limit switches on guards, emergency trip wires etc. If any of these devices in the PRIORITY SHUTDOWN circuit were to fail they would FAIL SAFE i.e. open circuit which also accounts for failure of wiring, loose terminals etc. Isolations are done at the bus bar of the MCC under a LOTO (Lockout Tagout) procedure https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockout-tagout which is administered by the Owner / Operator of the facility under their own SRCC (Safety Rules Clearance Certificate) guidelines. As the article states "Ongoing Investigations" since this was the installation of a robot by a contractor as a guess I would say that it was a new installation, so the question first to be asked is "Did the installation come under Owner / Operators SRCC's" If YES then why was the technician working on the robot without a PTW (Permit to Work) and if NO then how was the robot energised without coming under SRCC's which as well as many other things includes the full testing of control and PRIORITY STOP circuits. Now for a multinational such as VAG, much like other major multinationals such as SHELL, Exxonmobil, Toshiba etc would never cut corners on SRCC's where as Jim bobs timber mill Greensboro NC USA or Somchai's reprocessing plant in Samut Praken may turn a blind eye. Now it is possible to work on a new machine which is under SRCC, being covered by a LWC (Limited Work Certificate) but the only people who are allowed to take out LWC's are "Competent Engineers" and not 22 year old technicians. So either a) the 22 year old technician was working without a permit or he was working under the direction of a Competent Engineer who failed in his responsibilities. In industry there is no such thing as "Human Error" procedures are implemented so human error is engineered out of the equation unless procedures are ignored by GROSS NEGLIGENCE.

What is pathetic is web sites printing lies, she was not punished she was later told of muttering behind the scenes about what appeared to be a black bra under her regulation Wimbledon whites. The rules, much feared, always enforced, say “competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely whiteâ€. And “any undergarments that either are or can be visible during play [including due to perspiration] must also be completely white except for a single trim of colour no wider than one centimetre.†But this was not one of the things that bothered her on court. “I was not aware of that at all,†she said responding to erroneous reports that she had received a code violation. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/jun/30/wimbledon-2015-eugenie-bouchard-duan-yingying

Vietnam Approves Controversial $16 Bn Mega Airport
Mekong replied to cavanami's topic in Non-Thailand News
1. In Thailand do or do not Immigration wear brown uniforms as do all Civil Servants? Same in Thailand except the colour is brown, not sure about fatigues but nowadays just plain green. 2. Show me an international Airport anywhere in the world where Taxi drivers don't try to rip off punters 3. VN is still an insular Communist State and relies on Hard Currency, as previously stated the entry visa requirement is being dropped for EU, UK, US, AUS and NZ citizens in a few days time. Granted Than Son Nhat was constructed by the French in the 1930's, expand by the US in 1968 as were many airports in the region. Many People have a negative perception about VN, up until a couple of years ago myself included , but it is not as bad as assumed. There is still a mistrust of the outside world and a feeling of superiority amongst many Vietnamese people, give them a simple task and the response is "WHY" don't ask why just do it (bangs head against wall) but once one gets used to the idiosyncrasies of the place it is rather pleasant to live and work in. I don't have to report every 90 days to immigration for a start. I am not a Vietnamese apologist, far from it, but at the end of the day we all need to work to put a roof over ones head and rice on the table, and personally VN is a far better place to earn ones crust than many other places I have been in. -
Vietnam Approves Controversial $16 Bn Mega Airport
Mekong replied to cavanami's topic in Non-Thailand News
Vietnam is trying to open up as of 1 July 2015 majority of EU, US, AUS and NZ passport holders will be granted 15 days permission to stay on arrival which they expect to attract more casual tourists who are currently put off by having to apply for an invitation letter to issues a Visa on Arrival. . Sai Gon is crying out for a new airport, Than Son Nhat is bursting at the seams and with no room for expansion Long Thanh is the only logical solution. Since Noi Bai in Ha Noi got a shiny new terminal earlier this year it is now the South's turn. Waerth, I respect your personal opinion but lets just say the impression was made upon you after being in VN for a couple of days as opposed to being in TH for well over a decade and being able to speak the language, try working / living in VN for a couple of years and you will soon realise that is is the same bullshit served up as a different flavour, I have a work associate who is based in Sai Gon but has frequent long weekends in Bangkok, he thinks it is the Bees Knees, again perceptions of a place due to amount of exposure. Vietnam is expanding at a phenomenal rate but it has many years to go before it is on par with Thailand (my opinion) but that being said it is more preferable to be working in VN than previous assignments in the Middle East. -
Sorted for Ya, if you want something doing ask an engineer

And I probably fall into the category of a foreign correspondent having been in Vietnam for close on 2 years, with all due respect I would never be a ghost writer for Stick or anyone else, it has taken time effort and money to be where I am now and I don't divulge that information for free. My co-workers (sic) don't like me because I know the rules and won't tell them, FFS they are independent multi national consultants whom think they are better than me so I just tell them "go figure." I am the warrior

Into theme music Better Music and far better show

How did this thread about spiked drinks in Nana Plaza degenerate into a character assassination of stick? Stick and I have often disagreed on our own opinions but we both know we are all entitled to our own, bringing his personal life into it is low IMHO. Drop it Guys
