  1. Nancy Reagan, former actress and First Lady, died at age 94. A tough lady but devoted to her husband. I didn't envy her when she spent the last 11 years of her husband's life taking care of him from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. RIP
  2. Watching a documentary about Napoleon, it appears that his penis is in a box in the basement of a New Jersey woman. Napoleon's Doctor in his later life wasn't paid, so after Napoleon died, the Doctor snipped off the penis. Later, he emigrated to the United States and his heirs sold it. Eventually, in the mid 1950's, it was bought by a man who left it to his daughter, who owns it today. The commentator mentioned that the penis looked small but not bad for being 200 years old.
  3. Trump had momentum; the Republican leaders, both national and state, threw their support behind Rubio. So, obviously, Cruz wins the Kansas Caucus. I share Bob Dole's view of Cruz; no one likes him in Congress. I didn't know that there were that many Evangelicals in Kansas.
  4. I remember the plot line of "Network" being called too far fetched (news anchor goes nuts and becomes a cult figure with mass appeal). The Republican primaries have gone way beyond far fetched and makes for must see TV. It's like people watching a train wreck. They are horrified by it but can't take their eyes off of it. If Trump doesn't have a majority of votes by the convention, a back door deal will be made to anoint someone else, Trump will run as an Independent and the Republicans will find their party in ashes on Election Day.
  5. Pat Conroy, author of "The Great Santini" and "The Prince of Tides," has died at age 70 of pancreatic cancer.
  6. One more day until the Kansas Caucus. Should I bring shame on my family name by supporting Trump on Saturday, knowing full well that I'll be voting Democratic or Independent in the General election. I can't vote for Cruz or Rubio, but could vote for Bush or Carson, who are still on the ballot. Decisions, decisions!
  7. George Kennedy, character actor who won an Oscar for his performance in Cool Hand Luke, has died at the age of 91.
  8. The Kansas Caucus is March 5. I'm a registered Republican but closet Democrat. The local Caucus meeting building is 2 minutes from my house. I'm going and throwing my support to Trump, if only to help the eventual Democratic presidential nominee. I'd take the Caucus seriously if the choice envolved more than Trump, Rubio and Cruz.

    Apple V Fbi

Apple did set up a system where, if you forgot your password, you have to change it, even if you can provide them with enough evidence that you are who you say (social security number, other forms of ID) and you can't have a password that you have used in the past year (I have tried passwords that I haven't used in 2 years and they were rejected). I have been sending myself emails with the User ID and password for Apple products and bank accounts and it helps. I should check into the service/business that keeps all your ID's/passwords supposedly safe but I wouldn't completely trust them, either. Obviously, privacy isn't a big concern for me. Ultimately, I don't trust Apple motives in this matter and don't trust the Government to use the information that they would get in an ethical way, so I'm just going to watch the battle unfold and see who wins.

One thing for Tim Cook to consider is that is he could be found in contempt of a Court order. In cases where a reporter is found in contempt, the presiding Judge can, and often does, have the reporter arrested and placed in jail to see if an extended stay might change their mind. I realize that Apple has more lawyers working for them then just about any other company but would Tim Cook's convictions waiver if he had to spend a month or two in jail? Personally, having an IPhone and several IPads, I'm having to change ICloud pass codes about every other month because I forgot the current password and Apple won't let me use a password that I've used in the past year, so I have to think of obscure passwords that I have no chance of remembering two to three months later. Out of the 750 million IPhones sold, I'll bet a significant percentage of them are locked because of forgotten passwords. I admit that I'm tired of gigantic companies thumbing their noses at consumers and governments and am looking forward to seeing how the U.S. Versus Apple turns out.
  11. It should be interesting to see how far President Obama goes in trying to get a liberal on the Court. If he tries to appoint someone like his two appointees to date, there is no chance of getting the nomination approved before leaving office.
  12. Supreme Court Justice Antonine Scalia was found dead at a west Texas ranch from an apparent heart attack. He was 79 years old. That's going to tip the Court to moderate/ liberal, at least until the next President takes office for 4-8 years. I wonder what happens to the cases that the Court heard this term and a decision is expected in June. There will be a lot of 4-4 ties now.
  13. It must be a big craze when the Kansas City Star, a newspaper that carries nothing about Thai culture, has a long article in the Sunday edition about "Child Angel" dolls. It will be interesting to see if my wife brings one back after visiting LOS in July. Do they come in boys instead of girls?
  14. Abe Vigota, whose acting credits include The Godfather I and II and Barney Miller, died yesterday at age 94. Over the last 15 years, he was often mistaken as being dead on Internet reports. RIP, Fish!
  15. Thai authorities can go after someone after a complaint about what is said about the Royal dog but are "indifferent" towards the justified complaints from the sister of a murder victim (foreign) and may in fact charge her for defamation. Only in Thailand!
  16. RIP to the best dog that I ever had. A golden retriever that my wife and I bought as a puppy, he made the trip from Thailand to the U.S. Always friendly, he would sleep beside my bed most every night. I'll take him to be cremated tomorrow and one day return him to my house in Thailand. Rest in peace, Pepsi.
  17. One of the fake obits that makes the rounds about once a year is that Edie Murphy died while skiing in the Alps. Hen Edie does meet his maker, I'm pretty sure it won't be with a bunch of white people in Switzerland while skiing.

  19. My brother had $2,000 stolen from his wallet in Barcelona about 15 years ago. A group of kids surrounded him, basically playing around, and then started bumping him. He noticed right away that his wallet was gone and grabbed one of the kids but the wallet had already been passed and the cops had no reason to arrest the kid. That's why, the 2 times that I have carried $10,000-20,000 to Thailand, I keep it in a secure place in shorts underneath my jeans. Personally, I have had 80 quid stolen on the Euro Star, from Paris to London. In the Paris Metro, during rush hour when the trains were jammed, I could feel a hand going down my front pocket. I immediately grabbed the arm and wanked the hand out. For 2 minutes, I stared down the twenty something punk before we reached the next stop and he quickly got off. I really wanted to put my fist through his face but considered what might happen then and thought better of it.
  20. The only concession in cooking that my wife made was an occasional taco night at home. She now works and k Leaves cooking dinner to the 19 year old daughter. Once every 3-4 months, she makes hamburgers and about once a month, spegetti and meatballs. Otherwise, it's a low cost Thai meal. The 21 year old son does like most foods (he has assimilated the most, with non Asian friends). The others will eat chicken sandwiches from a fast food restaurant and eat chicken from KFC (they don't like Popeye's or Churches) and will eat pizza if it is only a cheese pizza. I took the 8 year old son and 19 year old daughter to Disneyworld over Thanksgiving and, fortunately, the son and I had 4 days by ourselves before the daughter flew down. We tried restaurants that the daughter would. To like. Once the daughter showed up, we ate at Asian restaurants or restaurants where she could get a large salad. I tried to get her to go to a recommended French restaurant while there (she took 3 years of French in High School), but she declined. Other than the wages here, I'm sure that my wife and two daughters would prefer to live in Thailand. I've got 10 more years before my 8 year old goes to College (hopefully) and I can either move back to Thailand permanently or stay in U.S. (Because of future health problems, which would be the only reason to stay).
  21. I guess that the only reason that there are no U.S. Cities listed is because it's considered armed robbery.
  22. Not when you serve the same combo of rice and mystery meat for either of the three meals of the day
  23. And why should she? Thai food is so great, it can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 365 days a year.
