  1. Well AC is on another level again, people try to compare AC with Pattaya at times. I think it's pointless, they're just so different, even in their similarities. The danger was never really up front or out in the open, just the old spidey senses tingling, and I've learnt to trust them over the years. Another thing I found there is it's just so much more obviously a business, almost no pretence at the GFE, not that Thailand hasn't gone that way as well. In other matters the tales of foreigners getting truly shafted seem even more brutal than Thailand. Now outside the P4P scene there are a lot of very nice Filipina girls who will give it all away for free, and clean your flat, and cook breakfast, and do the laundry. They are however doing this as investment, not quite a long con, they have every intention of pushing your wheelchair and changing your diapers but they in it for the long run. Oh and I've often found them a lot more "experimentally" minded, notwithstanding the strong catholic mindset that sometimes embeds a discouragement toward certain physical practices that many more enlightened souls might thoroughly enjoy. Education can work wonders. If a man truly had the means and the inclination, not to mention the necessary two houses, I think one of each would be quite a pleasant lifestyle.
  2. And a darn sight more dangerous is some ways I've always felt
  3. So the BTS-MRT is pretty much at (or over) capacity. Presumable all of these customers are paying fares. And yet their business model does not provide an appropriate maintenance budget? WTF!?

    Line?

Video calls work fine on LINE. For most normal people LINE and WhatsApp are essentially indistinguishably interchangeable. Both are messaging apps with extras. LINE has no end to end encryption, so if you're up to dodgy stuff I guess that's not the one you want. LINE does have cute liccle picture-gram catooony type images that you can download and send to others, some are anmiated, some even have cutesy sound bites. Both include voice calls, video calls, voice messages, emojis, photo and video clip sharing, group chats, etc. LINE is Japanese WhatsApp is Zuckerberg Oh yeah, Viber, Telegram, Messenger, plus a few others are similar though none have the same market penetration. Japan and Thailand = LINE, ROW = WhatsApp, seems to be the split.
  5. I wonder how many would choose not to head for the US if they took away the right to US citizenship based just on being born there? That has certainly always struck me as a rather odd 'benefit' in this day and age..
  6. Agreed, bundling is a bitch, real spawn of the devil stuff, definitely should not be allowed. So far as net neutrality is concerned I think its a minefield depending on how you see it. I would like to see net neutral as in carbon neutral, anything you have on the negative side needs to be equal to what you have on the positive side or better. I also think corporate terrorism creates massive distortion which kills a lot of startups, before they even are. Greed of course is probably what drives all this on some level and it would be hard to regulate against that.
  7. It's just those butter face girls
  8. I saw a tv news interview with a guy who spends his life studying what NK gets up to and why. His take was that a lot of this current activity is that NK knows there is a different team at play in the US and that they can poke and cajole them with some highly beneficial outcomes. None of which takes them off message from their regular playbook. The problem with anything other than the most cautious approach to these loons just has the effect of making you look dumb when it goes pear shaped.
  9. Are those your words or...? Though I can't speak for the US I do know that in a lot of countries internet speed from the ISP to you (the consumer/end user)is priced accordingly. Want more speed, pay more money. At least I can't recall an ISP that doesn't do that now or since it all began pretty much. When I read the article you referenced I noted that the changes were aimed at modifying the way web sites and app developers (it mentioned those 2 types of user specifically) pay for their access to the internet. It would seem almost reasonable to expect that the likes of Google, wanting trillions of Exabytes in 2 way bandwidth should likely pay more than anyone hosting a personal picture album website for family and friends. I think they are trying to separate content providers from content users and in particular try to find a way that makes it attractive to get into the ISP business and enlarge what has long been shrinking competition in that space. As always though it seems things can get read into these kind of statements that don't talk in specific and explicit terms. A bit like the other day when the Thai Gov says it might pass a law decriminalising marijuana and opium for medical experiments. The press reports this and the likes of Thai visa all start commenting as if they expect to be able to walk about smoking weed or carrying without fear of prosecution. My reading was totally different.
  10. Hehe, what fun in the bedroom eh! :grinyes:
  11. I wondered at the time what she could have been doing on her phone, think this was in the days of Blackberry's and she could be seen actively thumbing the keypad in one picture as I recall. Having learned more about the underage unlicensed driving scene here it seems to clear to me she was just following protocol, if anything happens, phone a friend, the consequences are likely of no consequence, it's just a matter of money. Whilst she was "hi-so" whatever that is, this is common among the "no-so" (normal society). Her misfortune was simply being seen doing what they all would do in similar circumstances.
  12. Or just drive Most of the monied kids my 2 know have their own cars and just drive. All provided by the Thai parents who are usually both off the scene away working on their business or whatever leaving their teenage kids to do pretty much as they please. When I first heard of this I thought it was pretty unusual and possibly a one off. Turns out that by 16 or even 15 a lot of kids are living either alone or just with a sibling or two, I now know of 11 from my 2 kids. These are monied kids from families who can afford private tuition. A lot dropping out of school after M3 to go to GED mills where they 'assume' they can cram for 3 months to get a university entrance and then freewheel. A driving licence is not something these kids tend to concern themselves with. A phone number to call in case is all they require.
  13. There used to be a guy in the Old Siam theatre, Ban Moh area, upstairs near the OAP's karaoke pick up joint (doubtless there are others too all over town) who will open up the seemingly sealed battery case and replace the cells. Most of his business was laptop battery packs but he did pretty much anything he could get cells to fit into. Not always the full capacity but good enough to keep them going. I have a couple of Panasonic drill batteries I mean to take over there, not sure if he's still around though.
  14. Why not contact the Colgate importer/distributor and ask who they supply to or where you can buy. Colgate-Palmolive (Thailand) Ltd. Member Company since 1959 Address: 19 Off Na Ranong Road Sunthornkosa Road, Klongtoey Klong Toey, City: Bangkok Post Code: 10110 Country: Thailand Phone Number: +66 (0) 2229-8000 Fax Number: +66 (0) 2249-3869 General Email: URL: www.colgate.com Business Activity: Manufacturing - Consumer
  15. My guess is the batteries is what caused the problem. There are capacity limits both for carry on and checked baggage and they are different though a lot of the customer service staff are ignorant of the difference. Probably someone kicked it back when they saw the batteries and it got held until someone confirmed it was under the limit. Particularly in China doing nothing is preferable to doing something wrong.
  16. Yeah me too, queefing, they even have competitions for that
  17. Looks like there might be a few Haynes manuals on the bookshelf.
  18. Fart fetish brothels are the thing these days in Tokyo it seems http://tokyonightstyle.com/blog/trendingnews/about-fart-fetish-brothels/
  19. Let's ave a look at what you coulda married... She's 16, Filipino, never mind take her back lads! Classic It's tough to beat a northern comedian on his game. That easy going almost laconic right between the eyes, take that yer twat! Brilliant.
  20. That's one way of putting it I suppose Should be at least, and with suitably curmudgeonly tendencies to boot!
  21. Avengers, Infinity war. Yawn, yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn More an excuse to get all the Marvel characters in one movie really than anything else. Plenty of them get killed off and very obvious there is going to be yet more of this. High point: Zoe Saldana Low point: Zoe Saldana gets deaded. Watch, if you must.
  22. 3BBOEM 3 Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. Some fine performances from Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson. A good story too and some unexpected twists. Worth a watch.
  23. Other than the sort of place we were at yesterday, essentially a fairly benign atmosphere, plenty of regular Thai people coming to drink and hang out, I don't see myself "introducing" him to much. What do you say to a teenage son who's happy to spend time alone in a darkened room with an internet connection? Well I don't think he's lacking ideas. Thing is he has ready access to a much wider pool of possibilities and though I couldn't guess at his "preference" I can't for one minute imagine most western women are going to be in with a shout. Still it will be his doing not mine. Of course one should always be ready to proffer guidance when requested but other than that got to say up to him I think. Knew of a guy that brought his teenage boy to BKK and "introduced" him. Simply put he paid a hooker to fuck him. Not sure that's really a good idea, think it will be a good few years until that sort of thing would appeal if even then. It's more likely I'm going to be the one drooling over the ones he brings home. It's bad enough with 17 y.o. daughter and her seemingly endless stream of mega cute friends who come to hang out here. Hard times, quite literally at times.
  24. The high, or low, lights. 1973 there could have been some high highlights.
  25. Well we had a good night. Hard keeping the beer girls to keep their paws off him, he's totally Thai but looks farang so there's a fair bit of giggling and lip biting going on. No worries he's co-ed and well used to the female attention, pretty sure there was a piece of paper with a number/id
