  1. I prefer simpler questions to test Thai thought process. A cowboy rides into town on Thursday. Stays three nights. Leaves on Thursday. How long is he in town?
  2. Yup, that's the site that's giving me the problem
  3. Even with my vpn connected to look like I'm in Australia it still refuses to allow me to watch this. Any info on available download sites? Thanks

    Bureaucracy

I'd beg to differ on that last statement. I think Thailand does just that in a number of government and quasi government organisations. NBTC and Aero-Thai being just two that I've had regular dealings with. The behind the scenes paperchase operation employs a gazillion people unnecessarily filing and collecting, moving and checking paper that is for the most part completely unnecessary. Immigration might be more familiar to some and is another operation that over employs. Why is it necessary to fill out a TM6 on arrival? What happens to them? Some countries don't even ask you to fill in anything on arrival these days, a number in ME anyway. I think the RTP could probably operate as effectively(sic) if not considerably more so were it reduced to about one third its current size and all paid 3 times their current salary. Don't even start with the military, the RTAF is probably only third in line with it's number of senior staff officers after China and North Korea But I get the social engineering aspect that possibly escapes a few, it keeps a larger number of the workforce on meagre payrolls each getting a small slice of the fixed size cake so depressing the overall average wage whilst at the same time reducing the number of unemployed which in a country without any welfare support might quickly lead to social unrest and the consequent threat to those in power.
  5. Most probably they are radio clocks with a small receiver that takes time from an atomic source clock that broadcasts the time on a given frequency. In the US WWV Boulder, WWVH Hawaii, in the UK MSF, Rugby, In Japan JJY, and in China, but I cant recall the callsign. Usually on 2.5MHz, 5MHz, 10MHz or 15MHz. The time encoding is used to set the clock to the precise time. Since the time is syncronised with the transmitting station which takes it's time from an atomic locked source, usually rubidium these days I think. Have not looked at this stuff in 20 years so a bit hazy now. You could use GPS these days I guess, cheap enough for the most part though the possibility of inaccuracies due to spacetime curvature resulting from Earth mass might upset some if not compensated for, about 45^-6 seconds per day, probably not in the same league as the accurate Thai clocks!
  6. My only analog dial watch is set to UTC, never changes no matter where in the world I am. It's not like I wasn't taught to add and subtract.
  7. The likelihood of both sets of results being fixed is...? The problem with a DNA only prosecution is that it removes the possibility that the lassie entertained the foreign laddie to a little bum sex some time before she was topped. Implausible maybe but with another life on the line it needs to be much more.

    Roof Top Bars

The roof top bars on my Cherokee weren't expensive
  10. Same same, but different.
  11. Other than once, at the beginning I've never had another Thai visa. Only a 12 month extension of stay. That was tracked to the work permit. Then I needed a multiple re-entry permit, for which I always had to appear. Can be done at immigration anytime or at the airport on a day of departure, 3k for 12 months I recall. Never could get a multi re-entru permit without showing up, or indeed the extension of stay. Always had to put in an appearance even though the company always does the running around and filing
  12. I'm with you on the karma thing, never bothered me. Thais seem to have a different approach though they often will not come out and tell you for fear of either losing face or worse still causing you to lose face. Doesn't mean their inner self isn't wrestling with the whole thing. YMMV though, we're all in unique situations. Tell her you just found out from a neighbour that years back somebody was killed in your house and watch her freak out. Guaranteed.
  13. A key belief for Thai people is karma and how deeds and events can pass from one to another. If your wife was aware the car you gifted her had been involved in an accident I'm amazed she would even accept it. To do so would require her to suspend a very strong belief that the badness leading to the accident the car suffered would be visited on her. I'm sure your stepdaughters refusal to accept it might have similar connotations despite what they may tell you. And I am very sure that her Thai friends would be making her feel very bad about having a repaired car. One reason the Thai second hand market is so overstuffed with cars, houses, everything, is the belief that something bad must have happened for the original owner to be no longer in possession. Forget ever about having a Thai stay or live in a house where someone once died. Yes we know and understand that much of this is likely pure nonsense but to enforce such a view would seem hugely disrespectful to a core value that Thai people hold dear. As a husband a key duty of care you have to your wife is to protect her from the vultures, in this case the other Thai people who would deride her, and give her the confidence to feel secure. Were she a well educated woman with greater self confidence this may not be necessary. Without it she will feel humiliated and rejected. The price of a Thai.
  14. So previously it was ruled a death by falling downstairs, now it seems it's a death by some sort of strangulation??? Tells us a ton about the Thai police forensic capability.
  15. Just did another, 5S-16 OTA on DTAC 4G, no issues
  16. Had it on my 5-64 since it pretty much first appeared 8.0.2 (12A405), daughter did her 5-16 no problem. both worked Apple perfect OTA, no issues since, not missed a beat.
  17. So violent rape is acceptable and human tenderness is not, that takes one fucked up sense of reason to comprehend. Kind of gets to the heart of Thais believing they are different, as in all the wrong ways.
  18. "Scenes like this try to teach society that women should not travel alone or wear revealing clothes," the director said. "And men shouldn't drink." Say what!!!!?????? What kind of society wants to teach its citizens that one sex should be any less safe than the other or suggest they should not have basic freedoms enjoyed by others. This is utter crap and the guy is clearly a dysfunctional moron of the worst kind. The very best public service would be to prevent this numbskull from ever participating in mass television ever again.
  19. It seems the consensus is then that no matter what has befallen you, and for sure I think we would all wish you the very best given your misfortune you owe it yourself and the mongers of this world to do your best, or at least let the girls try. You have a golden chance, use your disability to advantage, explain that you need to learn what is and isn't possible, you will find willing experimenters determined to prove you wrong and I'm sure you will enjoy the finding out, no matter which way it goes. Go to it!
  20. And the important bits usually dangle in the middle. Sounds like an excellent opportunity to visit and search out some slightly unusual "assistance" maybe some eager young wench that can get things started just to prove to herself (and her friends) she can
