If it's not too much trouble, that would be great. It is one of the fresh ingredients I miss the most. Here is a link for Florida but have not followed it thru to see if it leads to actual ordering since I wanted mine from Cal. It lists some resources you might be able to order from. http://www.fl-ag.com/tropical/kafir.htm Here is another with actual ordering (largo Fl). http://www.farmersmarketonline.com/tropicaltrees.htm Davie Fl: http://www.gardenofdelights.com/ I bought mine here in Cal. http://r.searchhippo.com/r3.php?i=1&q=kafir+lime+trees+california+nursery&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fourwindsgrowers.com%2F I tried what OH said, with seeds. 3 times. Actually got as far as a single leaf once Don't know why :: AFAIK, these are no dwarf kafir trees, and they get quite large. I am growing mine in a container, but it will out grow that eventually. Until then ::
Brink15
Thanks very much. I recognize the one in Largo Florida from a hot sauce show in St. Petersburg. They sold all manner of chili plants including Thai prik kee noo plants. I never thought to ask if they carry kafir lime trees. The funny thing about this place is that I could drive there in 40 minutes but they only do business through mail order. Looks like I'm getting a kafir lime tree. Might as well get a chili plant while I'm at it. Thanks again.
Brink15
Looks like I might be able to drive down and pick one up. Their regular website says they allow people to visit their nursery by appointment. Very cool.

BadaBing
I'm in the San Fernando Valley part of Los Angeles. About 3 miles from me is a Thai community , complete with Temple and stores , many restuarants too. All quite good. I also agree most have a Chinese mention on the menu's. Is som tum a thailand only thing ? I have never seen it anywhere here and too embarrassed to ask for it :: With the "melting pot" that Los Angeles is , there is great food everywhere. Old Hippie
The Thai Temples here in the SFO area serve Som Tom every Sunday!! One or 2 restaurants also serve it and other Issan dishes! Still, the quality is a bit off.

rovineye
Says BadaBing: I have never seen it anywhere here and too embarrassed to ask for it :: Bada, You can't throw a papaya in Thai Town without hitting som tom (or som tam)! Seek, ask and ye shall find. Call it som tam thai to distinguish it from the som tam in which crab or fish is added, unless that is what you want. Then they call it som tam phoo ( or something like that). I like both. The only place in N Hollywood I can for sure remember eating it at was Sanamluang (sp?) Cafe on Sherman. The quality was excellent! "rovineye; your so cal guide, from TJ to Torrance, no muff too tuff, no papaya too phet"
