Thailand's Firearm laws

As a European, I don't think it is possible to argue with gun lovers from the US. We have a very simple equation in Europe: No gun at home, no deaths caused by gun.

This works (almost ::) fine since decades.

But the Germans have an equal completely irrational argumentation in regarding to speed limits on high ways. "Free driving for free citizens"

cheers

kamui

PS: I presume every country has some highly irrational habits and rules, but fortunatley not as deadly as the US concering guns. :banghead:

I remember 2 or 3 years ago doing a web search for gun stores in Bangkok and finding a couple of stores. I do recall one of them advertising the full auto conversion parts for Glock pistols. Of course these parts would be very illegal here in the US unless you are a licensed machinegun manufacturer. I don't own a Glock so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. I seem to remember that prices were quite high compared to here. I found this link with some info.gunlaws

Interesting statement. :doah: I didn't know that Berlusconi, Aznar, Chirac etc. are socialists. Just wonder who's conservative then? How about Japan, where possession of weapons is strictly prohibited? :help: ::

OK not to really get political here, since I am gettin ready to go on vacation... here are some referneces to lay this matter to rest...

Let me note that if guns cause crime the Switzerland and Finland would lead the pack since they are two of the most heavily civilian armed places on earth..

But any way, read on:

WA,

I don't know about Finland but as far as I know you're right about Switzerland. Every adult male has a rifle in his house. But note - the use is heavily restricted, only for military exercises, not even for self defense at home.

I do not really care personally if guns should be banned or not, I will try not to get in to this type of debate it has been thrashed before and will lead no where, I have been brought up with guns and used to go hunting myself and believe if you want a gun you should be able to have one, I also know you are a gun nut and will never listen but if you want to take the real facts and see how many deaths are caused by guns in those countries you mention it is not just a coincidence that the high level of gun ownership in certain countries can be directly related to high rates of death by guns in those same countries. The USA with something like around 80 deaths or so everyday from guns, Switzerland and Finland those other countries you mention with gun ownership laws have some of the highest death rates in Europe, The UK, Singapore and Japan with gun control laws have some of lowest death rates by guns, :cover: have a nice holiday
