To explain this - we were only in BKK as an entry point fopr a 5 week trip round South East Asia, and I really wanted to "see the sights". My friend, to his credit, voiced his objections at the outset, but gamely went along anyway. He hated the place, and I loved it - I guess that's the way it goes sometimes ? (He wouldn't "go with a whore" - his loss, not mine ! ) Later on in the holiday I left him in Vientiane for a few days, while I went back to BKK to roam around unencumbered. C'est La Vie...
