SiLeakHunt
I'm led to believe that Extasy sells at upward of 1000 baht a throw and in numbers of up to 100 they sell for a pound in the UK. He'd have been able to retire. If he had 3400 on him I imagine there was very little room for clothes in his bag. Cheers

Fiery Jack
Says jp1: In Japan he would be put in jail for several months up to a few years... Really? Try telling that to Nick Baker and his family. This loser (a British 30 year old sandwich shop owner with no previous criminal record and a clean urine sample when tested at time of arrest) was (allegedly) conned into bringing coke and ecstasy into Narita by a professional con-man during the World Cup in Japan and got huckled at customs with the other geezer's bag full of "goodies". Okay, that was his own stupid fault, and there are cracks in his story that make you wonder how much of the scam he was really in on. But... But he's now doing 14 years , with hard labour and no chance of parole or early release. Fucked, basically (maximum stretch for drug smuggling in Japan = 15 years, so old Nick just about hit the jackpot ). (Murderers usually get about 6-8 years in Japan. If they're Japanese, that is. ) jack
Fiery Jack
Ooops. Just to qualify that, I read through the media reports of Mr Baker's case: he was caught with the impressive score of 41,120 ecsacy tablets and 992.5 grams of pure cocaine "hidden in a false bottom", it says here ? hopefully not up his own "bottom". Must've been a bloody big suitcase. This media report of the case is a wee bit more "impartial" than his own family's website. I suppose 14 years doesn't seem that unreasonable for knowingly attempting to shift that amount of gear across a border? jack
torrenova
The world has gone to pot with the crazy liberal do gooders everywhere. Why can't we just bump off the shit that plagues society like in the good old days ? Of course, you have to have a trial and they have a further control measure to re-check. And yes, there will be a few innocent ones who slip through the safety net and accidentally meet with the hangman's noose. Very sorry, wont happen again (well, not to him anyway !). Some murderers, paedophiles, in fact any sex assualt on kids etc., druggies and a whole lot more besides would be heading for an early exit. There is no deterrent now in the west. Thankfully, LOS and some other nations have some adequate punishments. Looks like LOS is losing the bottle to top farangs these days though. Guest
(Murderers usually get about 6-8 years in Japan. If they're Japanese, that is. ) ******** I think you need to clarify this a little Fiery. Premeditated murder usually carries the death sentence. E.g. Osaka school killer, AUM leaders, Ikebukuro street slayer, festival curry poisoner. Killers who show no remorse also get harsh sentences way beyond 6-8 years. But evil parents who torture/starve their kids to death often get a sentence of only a few years.

Lusty
lets hope the tests show they are aspirin Intresting point.I've often pondered the question that if someone hid a kilogram of talcum powder in the lining of their suitcase and it was found what would happen?Even if it was'nt coke or whatever the intension to smuggle drugs is still there.
