New Petchburi Pete
I think the first doctor should have examined your penis & especially the tip. I think we all like to make medical guesses. I mention taking a peek because a close friend of mine had a very similar problem, but much worse ... he was urinating blood. He was seen (interviewed & physically examined) by an urologist (at Bumrungrad), who misdiagnosed him as having chlamydia (? sp), prescribed expensive antibiotics ... he initially wanted to do a cystoscopy after the bleeding stopped; but, after no response to 2-3 weeks of antibiotic therapy, the urologist sent my buddy down the hall to see an 'Infectious Disease' specialist ... one look at the tip & he pointed out to my friend that he had herpes! ... smaller than usual blisters were surrounding the opening, and also infecting the 'tube.' ... had to run it's course, like any virus ... but, the urologist's mistake(s) sure cost my friend quite a bit! Oral acyclovir therapy (6 mo) was effective in preventing further outbreaks, so far ... BTW, the acyclovir is usually prescribed if there are too many outbreaks 'initially,' say, an outbreak every few weeks, etc. ... topical acyclovir shows no benefit. ... keep the rubbers on! soongmak
Well Josh, It seems to me that the doctor instead of just taking a swab should at least take a look at his willy for the sake of a diagnosis. Cheers, soongmak
lembeh
Hi Soongmak Without knowing what swabs were ordered (including *maybe* a herpes screen?) it is difficult to comment no? I would still take a doc who correctly (IMVHO) attempts to determine the *source* of the problem prior to prescribing treatment over ill informed self (or even worse, over the internet!) diagnosis... -j-
spirit_of_town_hall
Agreed. I too have caught clamidia. I went to my GP and said that I knew what it was, this seemed to offend her and she said I would have to go to the GUM clinic at my local hospital. I duly attended the GUM clinic, I then saw a nurse ,who asked me if I had been with a man or woman? I said I was I was pretty sure it was clamidia and that in all liklihood I caught it from unprotected sex with a sex worker in Thailand. He then proceeded to insert a small spatula type thing down my shaft which was excruciating to take a sample for analysis. Prescribed the antibiotics which I had wanted in the first place and had some pressure applied to take an AIDS test which I politely declined. MooNoi
Hi STH... "had some pressure applied to take an AIDS test which I politely declined, telling him I'd have the test when they had a cure. " Why's that? It won't make any difference to the fact that you're HIV+ or not??? Is it a case of ignorance is bliss? Or fear? Not flaming, just genuinely curious as to your reasoning. I can kind of understand not wanting to know, but at least if you know you are HIV+ then you can both, A) Get pretty good drugs these days that keep the virus at bay, and, (more importantly IMHO), Have protected sex EVERY time in future to protect both the girl you're with and other sanukkers who go with her after you. (Which every sanukker should be doing anyway!) Cheers, Fly P.
spirit_of_town_hall
Hi the reason I didnt take the test there was that it wasnt anonymous. I would rather do it in my own time, and also not have to wait 2 weeks for the result which was the case. Admittedly I would be worried having to wait 2 weeks and would rather go in and out. Guest
well, here i definately agree with you. VD's are definately nothing a layman is able to deal with, and wrong medication can cause a lot of long term damage. there are so many VD's around with very similar effects, and others extremely resistent to existing medications, where making cultures is very difficult. about 13 years ago i had one of those nasties, it beat the docs. after going through all available antibiotica they went on a lottery course and prescribed me antibiotica combinations. i think the second combination finally did the trick. that was about two months of dreading every piss. Mentors
wonderlust said:I contracted Chlamydia (so it seems) from a girl from Marine Disco in Pattaya after the unprotected sex (...) i am really fucking angry about the shabby way i've been treated. Sorry, but :doah: I think that you have the typical symptoms of gonnorhoea. What i know is, that you can get Chlamydia also from dirty bath towels, for example. With Gonnorhoea both (!) partner must go under medical treatment soon as possible. Otherwise the typical ping-pong effect works further.
spirit_of_town_hall
I dont think you can get Clamidia from dirty bath towels, although I suppose its a good excuse if you were to pass it on to your spouse akin to explaining to your wife that you caught crabs by borrowing a pair of your friends speedo swimming trunks.
