And as for them not being paid what they would in other places, well that's called markets. I'd love to be paid what my equivalent would get in Japan too. And what's to stop a girl working in a store and doing a bit of free-lancing at night? I've met a lot of well educated girls in places like Thermae (especially at week-ends) and several bar-girls who were paying their way through college. On a similar theme, a couple of years ago in Pattaya I hooked up with a Freelancer for a couple of weeks and was drinking in some beer bars, when a couple of Arab looking gentlemen turned up with a large camera and some spotlights and a Thai girl (clearly a proffesional!) - they proceeded to shoot a couple of scenes whilst sitting at the bar (must have been the plot!). We did not even have to move seats - so if anyone is into Arab Porn and sees a handsome man (with a beard) in a Pattaya Beer Bar - then let me know! My "freind" was not surprised at this and said it was not an unusual thing to see. What did surprise me was when I remarked that as it was Arab porn that later the girl would no doubt be seeing a donkey (I know it wasn't a PC remark). "" Yes quite right, this eternal (or so it seems) idea that if a woman sleeps with men for money, particularly a small amount of money by feminist standards, it must be because she lacks education, opportunity or freedom, is risible. Almost any western woman in her teens or twenties and thirties, would leap at the chance to shag a guy if paid a month or two or three months salary, hell they'll often do it for free if the guy has even a small amount of fame or status. Witness the "models" claiming to have had rumpy pumpy with that nice Beckham boy. And do we need to be reminded that the world's largest porno industry in $ terms is based in the US? It all comes down to exchange rates. If people are really concerned about women's choice, welfare and rights, they should be off to countries where women don't have a vote. Thai girls look young and small anyway , so for some cop to conclude that they are underage is pretty easy. The only way they will get out of this is with a model release and copy of her ID. The cops will probably NOT be Thai cops , but USA or Brits trying to make a name for themselves "cleaning up" the internet. Just my thoughts , but these guys are not invisible to the police. And phony ID will still get you busted, look at the Tracy Lords case, she was 15 years old but had phony ID for 18 yrs old , a few guys got jail time over that one.... I chose my words carefully and I stand by them. For example, I specifically said "the majority" when talking about people "drawn" to the sex worker profession. "Majority" = "not all," in fact could be only 2/3rds or as little as 51%, so I think in my original remarks, I allowed for the reality (which I do not dispute) that many do in fact engage in the trade by choice. Also I said "not entirely out of free will" which again is, I think, different from saying they have no choice. Also the words "drawn to" which I used are quite different from words such as "compelled to" which I did not use. Markets are great. Can't wait to get back to the one in LOS.
