Please! Please Please!!

Thousands killed and the tragedy continues - and you worry about a damned coral reef.

When will these environmentalists wake up to the fact that a child dying means more - much more than a tree or a coral reef.

sorry I find this almost as sick as the pics of reality of dead human beings on Thai TV

My feelings to those who lost loved ones

Dude you need to relax. The guy expressed concerned about the coral reef which is very vital to the ecosystem of the island. So cut him some slack because some people don't view death the way u do I know I don't.

A sad day for all those that were in the areas affected by the quake, and RIP to all those that lost thier lives due to its effects.

Lets just hope that the rescuers remain vigilent and focused and that they may be able to save the lives of others that may still be trapped or lost.

Good luck to all those that are helping.

Amen to that, what a horrific tragedy to happen to one of the most plesent parts of the world.

As sickening as it is the US media is now reporting how many American deaths there were. Like it's not important if Americans weren't killed.

The Australian media is also on tenterhooks in the hope of finding an Australian body somewhere in the debris. Can you imagine the outrage that something like this would have caused if it had hit the west coast of the US completely without warning ? My understanding is that 'First World' countries have systems in place to detect and warn people when a seismic event occurs : whether they would have had enough time to evacuate LA or SF is another issue.

As bad as the damage seems in Phuket, the pictures coming from Sri Lanka are much worse. CNN are reporting that thousands of land mines (from the conflict with the Tamil Tigers) have been uprooted by the waves, adding to the danger for rescue and aid workers. Monsoonal rains are also on the way, adding to the misery of survivors.

If you want potential national disasters, this has to be on of the biggies Yellow Stone Park

I have a friend that is vacationing in Sri Lanka at the moment :(

No one has heard from him as of yet. ::

Hopefully he was nowhere near the coast. Sri Lanka seems to be the hardest hit of all. Already 20,000 dead and that's sure to rise.

Ranger

Unfortunately he was staying on the coast. I've sent off several emails today to some of his associates that he would have contacted first. Due to the time difference, I probably wont hear back from them until this evening (US time).

I'm scheduled to meet him in HK in a couple of weeks before continuing on to LOS.

This is unbelievable.

saw Khun Sudarat, the health minister talking on Thai TV; they have alone in Patong over 60 dead western tourists. a lot can not be identified. as the bodies are decomposing and smelling and they do not have enough stuff to conservate the bodies until they can be identified, they are going to cremate unidentified dead bodies!

""As sickening as it is the US media is now reporting how many American deaths there were. Like it's not important if Americans weren't killed.""

If you look at any foreign media you will see there will always be footnotes and focus on any any of their nationals killed or injured.
