BB <<Of course it still happens in Belgium and in the US as well, but not as an organised industry. right ?>>

I think it is, have a look at the latest phenominium, "Child Modelling Sites"

It is organised, to a very high degree, even that very very sad case in Belgium a number of years back (And by the way, what a dam brave girl to sit in court and point out her abbusers)

Yep i noticed the two different stories and the slant as well.

I think that there is big difference between a 15 or 16 year old and one who is 10 or 11.

The younger group 10 or 11 are definitely a case of paedophlia but when you get to the 15 or 16 age group things are really not that clear cut.

Paedophilia is a crime and it is also a sickness.

I don't subscribe to the "hang em by the balls" "castrate em"

"lock em up and throw away the key" school of thought.

It seems like a lot of people get off on this sort of thing.

It seems like they can't wait to vent all their own frustrations onto some poor pathetic paedophile.

Why are people getting so indignant?

I believe paedophilia is a crime and those caught should be

punished but please save all the tired old cliches.

I think it is also pertinent to remember that most paedophiles were in fact victims themselves as children. So it is somewhat of a viscious cycle and a self perpetuating one. Obviously the issues involved in this sort of crime are complex and the sort of mass hysteria lynch mob mentality that seems to exist on this board will do nothing to help this sort of problem.

Agree with Cent in that it's a global problem, not just a Thai one. Recent news from Angers in France reveals a massive paedo ring based on an estate. Involved something like 70+ people including women. One parent apparently gave a child to be abused in exchange for a car tyre. Someone's no doubt got a link.

Anyone doubt it happens in the West should just have a chat with a social worker/lawyer/copper involved in child protection, (if they're able to discuss the matter without breaking client confidentiality). It really fucks kids up for life. Wrecks their minds. Never goes away. Often they become abusers in turn or develop serious mental health problems and get involved in drugs. Some of the stuff that used to go on in children's homes was absolutely abysmal especially considering that lots of those places were run by the church authorities who sometimes turned a blind eye. Quite often the staff in the homes were all in on it and passed the "problem" kids from home to home so they could all get some action. Lots of the abusers got away with it for years. Many were never taken to Court. Terrible abuse of trust. Ruins a kid's whole life just so some saddo can get his rocks off.

Zorro: It's not so much the age difference I meant as one story making it into a rescue of a distraught kidnap victim and the other making it a bust of a seasoned pro. Not condoning going with underage girls, I just would like to see the papers reporting the same story.

When I read that story in the paper it seemed kinda illogical anyway. What pure and innocent 15 year old girl goes to some strangers hotel room to take pictures in her uniform. The story then says that (shock) he asked her to undress and would pay her more more those pictures, which she willingly did. (though one paper says she felt "scared")

Doesn't pass the smell test. More likely the girl knew excatly what she was doing. Now, this doesn't make the guy a saint, BUT being aroused by a physically mature teenager does not make one a pedophile, and taking lewd photos of a girl who consents to taking said photos does not make one a rapist. Hardly seems like having one's balls torn off is a fitting punishment for this crime, and is not truly comparable to the priest who prays of 9 year old boys he has power over. (although I realize it is un-PC to any but one opinion when it comes to sex with minors)

And the thing is, in all these countries it was ORGANISED,

Spain leads child porn swoop

Pierre Ausseill in Madrid

MARCH 17, 2005

MORE than 500 people suspected of trading thousands of pornographic images and videos featuring children over the internet have been arrested in 12 countries in Europe and Latin America, Spanish police said.

Nineteen arrests were made in Spain, with the remainder in France, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Uruguay, said Spanish police who co-ordinated the operation.

BB,

You wrote:

"We are in agreement, I merely pointed out thats it readily available in LOS for those who are in constant denial and glorify all that comes along in LOS ."

The italics are mine here in your statement.

But that's just it. Who are these people here you are seeming to refer to in the part I have italicized? I just don't see this here, neither on the board, nor in this thread. Everyone here is in agreement that what this Finn guy was doing is evil and wrong, and that paedophilia is abhorrent, and it has never been promoted nor condoned on the board. Hell, before we couldn't even discuss this like adults as we are doing so right now. And I applaud this ability to discuss this problem here openly, but by discussing this we are NOT promoting. We are condemning it, and discussing the news article you have provided.

I'm sorry, maybe I am dense, but I just don't see "those who are in constant denial and glorify all that comes along in LOS" here on this board, nor amongst my friends here, nor among my friends who visit here, frequently and infrequently.

Pray tell, who is it you are referring to here?

I read it as BB thinks that there are those who believe that this does not happen in LoS -- that folks do not think that anything bad happens here. I agree that I have never seen that sentiment here on this board, *especially* on this subject. Maybe BB can elaborate?

Cheers,

SD

Cent & suadum,

Noted the question and, exactly as suadum explains, I am *not* pointing fingers at anyone here on board.

Just that people who think that LOS is paradise on earth, that all done with smiles are plain wrong....

Nothing to do with the board, just a broad concept from me.

Still hang them all by the balls I say !
