chuckwoww
Jet blows tyres on landing October 26, 2005 Thai Airways jet blew several tyres as it landed at Melbourne airport around midday today, Airservices Australia said. All air traffic into and out of Melbourne airport has been brought to a standstill. The plane was stranded at the intersection of two runways at the airport, a spokesman for the air traffic control agency said. The Airbus A340 "landed heavily" and "damaged a number of wheels on landing", the spokesman said. "There was a small fire in the undercarriage," he said. Planes are being diverted to Adelaide and Avalon airports for the time being and engineers are looking at the under-carriage to see whether the plane can be towed. So far, 12 planes had been diverted from the airport or delayed. http://tinyurl.com/8w4lx

..
Interesting. I fly that route a lot. I wonder when they started using an A340. It used to be MD11 (TG981) or 747 (TG993). Of course, the MD11s are older than dirt and maybe Thai are replacing them? Cheers, SD
Dumsoda
SD, It's currently only 1 of the 2 flights that has switched to the new planes Not sure but think it's the 4pm not midnight departure (from Melb). Understand that they also are introducing their new Biz Class upgrades, which will be good as the old offering was absolute crap Cheers
