New Petchburi Pete
I just read the thread about having complete physicals. I've had a few at various hospitals; but, even though I've been seen (sometimes with complaints) by Internists, an Urologist (Bumrungrad) and GastroEnterologists, not one of these doctors ever performed a digital exam to check the prostate for enlargement or lumps that could be present. What gives? It's not that I ever demanded one here in LOS; but, I don't believe a physical is complete without one especially for males over age 40. ... Buddhist inhibitions? lembeh
Unless you have a family history (i.e. brother, father or uncle) with prostate disease, you are about 10 years to young for routine screening...you can see some of the (not very uniform) guidlines here: http://www.meddean.luc.edu/lumen/medEd/Radio/curriculum/Family%20Medicine/Prostate.htm -j-

zzzz
One time a doc gave my prostate a really good going over during a digital exam. He said it was enlarged, but it felt so good, I didn't want him to stop.
Old Hippie
I hated getting this exam...but I manned up, and did it! Had a few cocktails first, a nice dinner, made a night of it! no shame at all, still get cards and flowers from the doctor on Valentines day...
