vaginaholic
Was in Midnite tonite for an hour and a half. On the positive side they are doing something now that no other bar seems to be doing: in the time that I was there almost half the music played was Thai. This, predictably, led to much more enthusiasm from the dancers. It definitely creates a party atmosphere. Hope this is the beginning of a trend as it felt like many years ago when Thai music in bars was much more common, attitudes much better, my erections firmer and longer lasting. On the downside a katoey started dancing tonite in Midnite. I have no problems with katoey service, managers, mamasans or whatever. Have known some of the katoey mamasans in Cowboy for years. Where I draw the line is when a bar is trying to sell men as women. If she was not born with a vagina it is morally wrong to try to pass her off on the unsuspecting. This particular one would not pass as female among anyone with much experience here. The fact that one is now dancing shows a total and complete contempt for the customers. It is fairly common knowledge that Midnite has been having problems retaining ?quality? staff. That is still no excuse to go to the level they are at now and the line crossed tonite. I predict that more katoey will come- have never seen a bar with just one dancing- and customers having problems will rise geometrically.
Bangkoktraveler
With the number of lady boys around, it seems there is a big demand for their services. I too have noticed LBs working in places I though were for women only. A few of the non-kakoey bars in NEP have some. Hard to tell. Nothing like feeling down at the crotch and coming up against a cock.
Pescator
Well, it could have been much worse. I have seen on more occasions than I want to recall a drunk farang entering the stage and putting on his own show I prefer watching a katoy any day. Maybe I'll pick up some Thai CD's next time and skip the Viagra.
Encore
Thai Music? I have been advocating that for a long time. A few years ago, when I spent quite a bit of time in MN, I'd slip the Katoey drink server a few baht to give to the DJ to play some Molam, and usually the girls would go wild, certainly lifted them out of the lethargic shuffle. When I tried that after the remodel and new boss arrived, I was told "Cannot, boss not like" WTF. Maybe he's slowly learning. BUT LB dancing, NO! Orangutan
ikkrang, Your right about US wanting to listen to Thai music. I've always said that farangs don't come to Thailand to listen to the Eagles, or the other tired shit the Thai's think we want to hear. Rather we want to be immersed in the culture of Thailand, including it's music. No different than going to Jamaica and hearing reggae music. -OT
Guest
There's a lot of kinds of Thai music. Pop Thai, Isssan, Morlan, etc. I may like Aon or Touch and another guy likes Issan. Personally I'd like mostly upbeat thai pop newies and oldies mixed in with Issan music and some Bowie, Frankie Valli and and the Four Seasons, too. If I wanted to listen to music, I've got an ipod. I go for the real stuff, not katoeys
Ranger
If you want a big WTF about Midnite, I'd bitch more about paying 140B for a Lady Drink. They have lost my business for sure and this used to be my absolute favorite bar in BKK. Ranger
