I asked her what she thought her mother would like....

(got the answer but it will just make board members laugh, ->

she wants her daughter to leave the bar and have a happy life with a decent man........)

So I am still looking for a decent gift.

:grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes:

Buy them a Bar on Soi 33 :neener:

That way you will be providing not only a future Income stream, but a "Class" place of employment for the rest of the family

Drogon,

Make sure that if you bring alcohol, it's appreciated. My father in law doesn't drink and a bottle of JW Black would be konda lost on him. Makes it a lot more difficult to buy something for him as well though!

As pointed out booze ain't a good idea I'd say :(

Try to bring something nice from your country beer & chocolate already suggested, but the mannikin piss souvenier might be an even better idea ;)

Its not about the value of the gift its all in the though :)

Don't sweat it you might even NOT bring anything at all & let them provide you dinner as you said escorting their daughter is the best gift they ever dreamt about!!

Most importantly make sure to get a good fell for their behaviour as you may be stuck with them & their ways for good :)

In fact I am honored to visit her mother.....

So the gift I want to make must be representative of my respect.

(Stuck with the mother? Not really, it is just to present the poor farang that I am)

=> only question is: Do BG consider inviting the man to visit the family as something important?

Thx anyway for the gifts ideas.

Forget about chocolate, IMHO most don't like it.

Expensive falang drink is also a waste of time. even cheap falang drink. JWB, OK

I visited Lao with mum and GF (just across the river)

i suggested to GF mum may want a present. She scorned the clothes at Thakek market, but we bought 9 little woven tables, to offer food to the monks. a stack of six feet high, bound togetehr, was transported back across the river. also wanted was a couple of big (2L) bottles of red wine from Df.

i complied, then found nobody liked the wine, they just wanted the bottles because they were handy to steep herbs and bits of medicine in LaoLao (rice whiskey). the wine got drunk in the end by me and a visiting woman friend of my GF, who ahd worked in patatya many years and learned to drink wine. well, learned to get absolutely pissed out of her tree on wine at 10.00 AM.
