thalenoi
Drogon, you need to UNREGISTER yourself as resident of Belgium and ask the Belgian embassy in Bangkok to write you a certificate of residence in LOS (only then will they do this....fuck them)then get a medical certificate from any local hospital (they have a standard form) With hat get yourself two drivers licences, a) for motorbike for car. You will need to find out where to you depending on where you live. Here in Udon the cops check motorbikers every day at the same spot. I show them my pasport and IDL, never have problems, but easier with thai drivers license, and hope I never will get into an accident.....
Mekong
Anyone have a real experience of an auto/motor sai accident in LOS? Pesonally No, but I know many cases of Farang Insurance Claims / incidents here. My wife is director of communications for one of the major Insurance companies in Thailand and one of her "babies" was to set up a 24/7 English Claims line, no matter where you are in Thailand if you have an accident call BKK number speak to an English speaking agent and have a local agent on the scene of the accident within 30 minutes. Some of the tales I get told would make your toes curl.

Nervous_Dog
A few major expat companies ban their employees from using motorbike taxis
buddha
Thats funny....I own and operate a motorbike, but would never consider getting on a moto taxi. I have and it always leaves me wishing I had not. I would rather walk and work up a sweat.
cavanami
In a pinch I take a moto taxi but I am a terrible passenger. I have been driving mo-peds, scooters, Harley's for many years. If I am driving, I can deal with the issues. When I am the passenger...errr...bad feeling!
buddha
Yeah I can't handle being on the tail end of a bike. The moto taxi guys have got to be some skilled drivers, more than likely better than me, but I'm just not having it.
