Flashermac
<< where can you buy rat meat in Bangkok or do you have to do your own hunting? >> Look in any large open air market. You'll see rat meat for sale, usually skinned and dried.
Bangkoktraveler
About how much does it cost. Oh by the way, if one wants to buy a fresh snake for butchering, what is the going price? Would love to try cobra. Do they drink the blood or just the gall bladder? khunsanuk
Hi, Had cobra up-country. My father-in-law caught one and after it was skinned they made some 'cobra with garlic and peppers' for me. It was okay, but the meat was a bit tough. Could have been the preparation as well though. Sanuk!
limbo
BKKTraveler, Totally depends, it's prepared in different ways but you always get to drink the blood, with the heart and a few other itmes in it. Chek with some locals, I'm sure they can tell where to get it. There's a good snake restaurant in Hat Yai, not too far away from the bus station. It's been a while that I had it so I'm not sure about the price. Various snakes have different prices.
..
Used to be an old guy at the main entrance to Lumpini Park with a fresh snake blood stall. He was only there very early, like 0500-0800 or so. You pick your snake, he sliced it open, and drained the blood into a glass. Hmmm.hmmm.hmmmm. Breakfast of champions, just like Mom used to make LOL! if he is still around. But there are also shops in Chinatown that have the same thing. Cheers, SD
