David99UK Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2007 They may be the Epitome of British Engineering, but that doesn't make them "Good" ......I beleive that even when they launched the Shadow they were already well and truly trading mainly on past reputation.....and the Shadow was just a way to cash in as much as possible on the past with a "mass market" car for the nouveau riche. To be honest it has to me very little "status", it's a Rolls Royce for those who can't afford a real Rolls Royce and for some who want to try and project an image that is based on nothing......BUT it is still a Roller (although I think the name "Bentley" has more cachet and lacks the embarrassment of the bonnet ornament)....but I wouldn't mind owning either for a couple of years.
