I've no idea what your computer or any of your gear is worth. :dunno:

I was just trying to make the point that people selling their used possessions very often think they are worth more than they actually are.

As for crapping on your thread, I really couldn't give a shit. You've never contributed anything to this board and probably never will. You are just using it as free advertising for your gear. :shakehead

Well Said Munchie.

Call it as you (and I) see it.

I have lost count of how many Playstations, DVD Players, Sound Systems etc I have abandoned in the Middle East, Gizmo's for Sanity at the time

As I said in my initial reply

Power Strip 50 Baht

Plastic Shelves 100 Baht

I think I can hear the Eagles Deperado!

You could build a new system here with the same specs for half your asking price:

http://www.busitek.com/forms/pricelist.html

New 19" BenQ can be bought for 8000 baht so at most it's worth 5000 second hand.

In total it's worth about half what your asking for it but that's not an offer as I already have a PC with better specs.

Give me a break. Show me what components you used to get a better system for even close to my asking price. Here's a system using your site with similar components (and I believe I was quite conservative with the prices of unlisted components):

GF8400GS WANG GeForce 8400GS, 256MBsupporting 512MB 450/800 MHz 2,390

Athlon X2 4000+ , Socket AM2, 2.10GHz , 512KB x 2, 65nm 2,590

P5B-E / LGA775 / Intel P965+ICH8R / DDR2 / IEEE / eSATA 5,290

Corsair Value Select Kits PC-5300 DDR2 1GB / 2GB 667MHz 2,000

Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250820AS 250GB SATA-II 8MB 2,490

DC-MG432 Medium Tower Case, 80mm rear fan, 450W power supply 1,490

LG GSA-H62L 18X LightScribe SATA 1,290

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro compatible with AMD Athlon 64 / X2 / FX , 2200RPM, 40CFM

1,390

Logitech Keyboard + Mouse 1,500

Divoom 2.1 speakers 800

Benq 19â? LCD Monitor 8,000

3.5â? Floppy disk 250

TOTAL: 29,480

Granted not all of these components make sense - that pricelist didn't have any good AM2 main boards and my processor is one step down, but my system also has a better case, better power supply, and an older but more capable graphics card.

If you truly know where a better system is available for 11,000 Baht (including a 19" LCD?), then please let me know. I'll happily buy one.

Thanks for admitting you have not idea what my computer is worth. Why then did you argue that my asking price is too high?

I appreciate that sellers often think their used stuff is worth more than it is, but like I have said most of my stuff is still like new and I have already sold a number of things for my asking price to 3 different happy buyers.

And what good have you contributed with your posts on this thread? When my girlfriend and I moved into our partially furnished apartment in Bangkok 5 months ago, we would have been happy to find things like this for sale so we could save a few hundred or thousand baht to get settled in. A new english teacher in a similar situation to ours who recently moved into a new apartment was happy to take some of our things earlier today and he thought our prices were fair.

I believe the processor comes with a cooler so no need to buy one separately (unless you're an overclocker) and you didn't mention what motherboard you had. What motherboard do you have?

Even by your own calculations you're asking 75% of the new price for a second hand PC. Totally unrealistic.

A system like yours on ebay would sell for about £100 (without the monitor). I'm sure there's a Thai auction site where you could pick up your PC for about that price.

25% of it's purchase price if it's a year old is more realistic.
74.626865671641791044776119402985% actually, but I wont be pedantic today.

Purchase Price = $2300cdn = 73,707.54 THB

22,000 / 73,707 = 29.8%

Again, this is my Asking price, I don't expect to sell it for this much but I also know that it is worth much more than 11,000. I am also considering selling the monitor separately and would take 5,000 baht for it.

Also, I don't care what prices on ebay.uk for similar spec systems are. I am asking a price that I believe is fair for the market I am in, and I bet you can not show me a better system that I can buy today in Thailand for a better price.

I used the following...

Now tell me I am incorrect!

I never said you were incorrect. I realize you used today's purchase price which makes your calculation correct. But I thought wonderlust's original suggestion of 25% of the purchase price for a 1 year old system meant the original purchase price which is what I used. Surely if I walk out the door with a new system it doesn't instantly lose 75% of its resale value, but I can understand that a 1 year old system does.
