yfs
From the Pattaya Mail comes an article that the hoteliers in PTY will raise their rates because neighboring countries have higher rates for their hotels. I always thought the hotels in Pattaya were cheap because there were so many and demand was low and the city doesn't offer much (other than sex). Thais sure have some strange ways of thinking. Very child-like. They don't seem to have ever made it to the analytical stage of their mental development. http://www.pattayamail.com/current/news.shtml#hd3
wonderlust
How much influence does this Thai Hotel Association - Eastern Chapter have on most hotels? Probably not much.
samak
hotel rates have increased everywhere in Thailand during the last 3 years, so why should Pattaya be a exception!
unit731
SE Asia. My hotel room at a new hotel in Saigon last year was US $18.00 with free breakfast. I think this whole Thai Hotel Association is just trying to squeeze another baht out of my almost empty wallet! I'll have to conserve and skip the buffet breakfast at the LEK and resort back to the 5 baht sticky rice with some dried spicy insects for that meal! samak
why dried spicy insects? catch them yourself and you can save more bahts!

trooper
I don't believe this affect much the around 1000 baht places I usually stay in. Makes me wonder though as I remember when I visited Vietnam 4 years ago you could get nice clean guesthouse room for 5 dollars. Same kind of rooms cost around 500-600 baht in Pattaya and more in Bangkok.

wonderlust
Nothing to laugh at. There are plenty of quality end resorts and hotels in Pattaya and it's not surprising they want to expand that.

Well, then they need to bulldoze the other 90% of that cesspool then... Cheers, SD
