Neo
Drinks are cheaper, LD's are cheaper, barfines are cheaper, the smoking ban is ignored, alcohol is served on those pesky days like elections, opens earlier, stays open as late or later than anywhere, tantalizing restaurants galore, decent variety of live music venues & discos, happier happy hours, showing upstairs, plentiful beer bars and pool tables. And yet just about every expat seems to find some excuse to never go there. Hmm...
samak
i have always prefered Patpong ways over Nana! I like Patpong!
The_Munchmaster
.... And yet just about every expat seems to find some excuse to never go there. Hmm.... Good. Patpong is my favourite area and has been for almost 20 years. I don't go into the gogos much now, other than Goldfingers and Superstar, but, as you say there's so much more to it than just girlie bars. preahko
Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with Patpong. Cool throwback bars to the 80s, 70s; 50 baht beers til 9 at one of the soi 2 bar beers, hard to find a gogo where you'll pay more than 100 baht for a beer...and ALWAYS OPEN, no matter what precious fucking holiday the rest of BKK is closed for. c'mon, one Chinese guy owns it all, as he has for 40+ years...the police are in his motherfucking pocket. sure, there are tourists (there aren't in nana???) and annoying touts...but hey, if you've got half a brain you never go upstairs...and hence you'll never get ripped off. Patpong rules (overall, when you take into account money spent...though for sheer FUN nothing touches Cowboy...) preahko

wonderlust
Isn't the reason that the girls want twice as much for ST/LT?

The_Munchmaster
It's not a new expat hangout, it's the old hangout of the more experienced worldly wise expats. The young gun sex tourists like nothing better than NEP and the Nana car park, or trolling Suk road at 2 or 3 in the morning but the more discerning expat prefers Patpong or perhaps Cowboy. PP is not wall to wall girlie bars hence it's less appealing to the young boys who don't really have a clue. You've got to be a bit more sophisticated to enjoy PP and thank goodness for that as that eliminates most young sex tourists and many board members.
