aesthete
sorry if this doesn't belong in nightlife, but it felt more comfy here than dropping it in "general" We've been going to get 2hr massages regularly since we've been here. We're paying 350 for 2 hour massage, asking for no extras, and tipping the massuesse 100. I'm just wondering If we're undertipping. does the amount we should tip change if we schedule a specific massuesse? my first trip to thailand, I went to get a massage, and looked for the opportunity to tip, and never saw it. I asked at the front desk and no one spoke enough english to help me (i was in Pinklao), so i didn't ever tip, and when I found out tipping a massuesse was standard, i felt kind of bad. I'd hate to be undertipping here.
Coss
I don't tip 4 massage, regular or extras, the fee is the fee. Having said that, the fee 4 extras is usually very good for the operative JMHO Coss
samak
you are not undertipping and if she is doing a real good job also not overtipping. if it is a usual service you are slightly overtipping!

aesthete
i feel better about it. I've taken to calling in and reserving the girl that does a particularly good job, and would hate to be undertipping.
ghelseth
Sort of depends on the pay policy of each place. Some give the girls only 100 baht from the 350-400 2hr fee, others up to half. I usually ask and tip accordingly. Usually the nicer venues pay more for their facility, and then stiff the girls expecting that a more generous/particular clientele will tip more. I usually tip 200 baht in such places.
drogon
If the massage is especially good then I leave 200 bht. Especially keeping in mind that an average massage in Europe costs 10 times the price.......

manaomaiminam
My own policy, if the massage is good is to tip 100 baht for one hour worked. If I get a 1 hour foot massage (and it is good), I give the girl 100 baht. If I get a 2 hour body massage, the tip would be 200 baht. But all this is up to you and how you feel about it.
