The_Munchmaster
I saw various Ostrich products in the supermarket the other day, including filet and goulash. Probably wouldn't have noticed if not for this thread.
Julian2
Ostrich products attracted huge attention about ten years back. Why would you pay the premium for ostrich when you could have something similar like goat or wild haggis for a fraction of the price? A rumor that rubber companies would be purchasing vast acreage in the far north of Thailand caused panic buying last year. Fortunately the land my Mrs picked up has good mountain views and close proximity to water and electricity.

Julian2
I've seen emus run along side a car doing 30-40 mph for several miles. I'd imagine ostriches would be pretty nimble as well.
jack_schist
OK i am going to give away some secret stuff here so listen carefully you non indigenous landholder folk. Jack survival tip #23 - How to catch an emu for dinner: Lay on your back and stick your legs in the air and move them around. When old man emu comes for a close look, whack him in the head with the big stick you have in your hand. cook him over a hot fire to burn off the feathers and skin. eat him raw as you can to make the most of the moisture. Dat wet stuff is hard to get out ere in da desert boss.
