Steve
itsmedave, I hear what you're saying. I think any belief system can be corrupted. All of us on here (with few exceptions) believe a representive government whether its a republic, democratic, etc. is the best current system but we've all seen examples of that system being twisted to do bad things. Religion is the same. Its not the religion its the people practicing it. I know of too many examples of people who are of a certain faith who have done very good things for people primarily because they try to live up to their faith. The good I have in me, as little as that is..hehehe...comes from parents who I think tried to live up to that. The overall rule of the bible is love God and each other. You can't do one without doing the other. The rest of it is subservient to that and many of the people who practice the faith put more into the secondary and tertiary stuff than the prmiary rule. Loving someone means accepting that they don't love you, think differently than you, look differently than you and helping your neighbor if they also think, look and act differently than you. As for the kid, he has stones. Its the kind of stuff you do at that age though.

Barry
This guy wasn't arrested for blasphemy but for offensive behaviour. Possibly nothing to do with religion, but just that the word cunt is considered offensive.
bust
If it read Jesus is a crack smoking peadophile I wonder would he have been arrested.....probably not. My guess is it was using the "C" word that got him locked up.

itsmedave
Lazyphil, No, I wouldn't be as happy about it. But then again, Buddhists haven't and don't continue to cause nearly as much death, pain, and suffering as Christians do. They don't try to convert me, they don't try to make laws forcing me to live by their morality, and they don't threaten hell on their followers who don't tow a strict line of limitation while hypocritically doing many of the things they claim to be against...some of which are very heinous. So, I don't think the correlation is an apt one.
