Faustian
I hear Iraq is quieter these days too, not sure of the quality of the beaches, but they sure have sand and a stable government.

cavanami
The local school(s) was (were) closed today. I made a run on the scooter to the Pat Pong area in the early afternoon (1 PM) and the traffic was about normal, maybe a bit lighter. Pretty much same-o, same-o. The baht stayed about the same, so looks to be no big panic on the financial horizon.

kamui
The German embassy does not give a travel warning. It's homepage says that the daily life is not affected ('effected' for some :smirk:). But they caution - to avoid the goverment area - to avoid any demonstrations The embassy warns - there could be bomb attacks - more checkpoints by military and police - potential power and water cuts - potential disruption of public transport including flights I think especially the disruption of public transport will put tourists off.
