buffalo_bill
Gentlemen , I am going to write about a meaningless subject but it is one of these things why I adore the Kingdom : Earlier this year I asked Nok to accompany me to China for a few days and she was excited . Problem was that for her it is unthinkable to hit temperatures different from Siam anywhere and therefore her travel equipment looked like a weekend trip to Phuket at high season . I suggested we go shopping and buy a jacket for rain and cold weather . Which we did and here is what i found on the label , will keep it til the end of my life : Front side label : [color:red]1cons PORSZA can you guess why ? ANGEL Rear side label : [color:red]PORS>ZA = @ REG TM : EST 2004 Division : womens Designation Type PORS>ZA Description : STD ISSUE T.J. CARGO NFG : You're so sexy boy No doubt there is significant information hidden behind all this , if in doubt ring or email [color:red]pors.za@gmail.com 661-846-8287 Good luck
gobbledonk
After Udon, I have made a solemn vow to never enter any of the following stores again: - Robinson - Emporium - Parkson (Malaysia) The frustrating thing about BKK is that I couldnt find a halfway-point between Big C and Robinson/Emporium : MBK has a lot of choices, but its not really a one-stop shop IMO. Carrefour had a lot of what I needed, but I have yet to find a shopping centre in SE Asia (Singapore is the exception) that has the variety I can find in shopping centres right here in Oz : YMMV. radioman
Down town shopping is a bit like that I always find. Out in the burbs it's a bit different. We got designer stores and market stalls and everything in between. Even got a Man Utd shop if that's your thing. Future Park: Decent size mall, about 1km to walk from Robinsons at one end to Central at the other . 4 or 5 floors, not quite sure. EGV multiplex, bowling and assorted school type businesses on the top floor. Chicks as far and wide as the eye can see any day of the week. Several evening and night time venues in the vicinity, Thai of course so they only attract locals and quality mongers hunting the real thing :hubba: . Er, really not much point going into town, unless it is for something uniquely different. Same same Seacon square et al. Sukhumvit, Chitlom, Siam, whatever, about as Thai as Patong beach, Pattaya or other tourist traps. YMMV, JMHO.
radioman
I remember seeing a roll of garment labels, forget exactly which brand, the sort you see sewn into the neck of shirts etc. They were on a roll and had been stretched out to mark of an area of road construction, actually just a hole in the road. Obviously straight from the factory. What amused me was that it said 'Made in France' and underneath 'Fabrique en Francais'. Strange to find such things in Thailand I thought. Mekong
RM, I am with you on the out of town malls, we live equi-distant from the likes of Chidlom, Paragon, Siam etc than we do from Central Rama III but tend to use Rama III a lot more since it is easier to drive to, less crowded and covers 90% of our needs. That being said, I do go into the City when I need to get new shoes, and it is quite pleasent to occasionaly meet friends for lunch at somewhere like Foodloft at Chidlom or the place on the fith floor of paragon with the large glass windows (Orange Bar?) elef
'Fabrique en Francais'. Surely from a factory or seller of pirated products - that means Made in French, the real Fabriqué en France
buffalo_bill
Gentlemen , in no way I intend to blame the excellent Lobbinnsun depamensoh for distributing wrongly labelled rain jackets . my story is about an unknwon Thai fashion genius desperately trying to give his labels the aura of the big wide world de haute couture , using the mysterious English language for said purpose . The " Your're so sexy boy "on a lady's jacket cracks me up at least once a day.
Stickman
Central Chidlom is a pretty decent mid-range store where you can get most things. It doesn't have all the top end stuff (go to Paragon for that) and neither the low end stuff (MBK or street markets for that) but I reckon it has enough to keep most people happy. Mekong
Stick, If I may call you on this, assuming I know you and yours which I don't (not whithstanding the fact you presumed you knew my character earlier this week) I am leaning to the thinking that you go to such places to keep your wife happy. Nothing wrong with that, I am very happy to share time with my wife, I go to places like Paragon and socialise with her social group over lunch, she will socialise with me later with a bunch of expats watching the Super 12's or Tri Nations when its in season, even working in Thailand / Asia we still need to discuss homeland, sport or music! I think I have the balance in my life, and I hope you have it in yours, iys hard work but worth it.
radioman
'Fabrique en Francais'. Surely from a factory or seller of pirated products - that means Made in French' date=' the real Fabriqué en France [/quote'] I have enough trouble with my own language , damned if I can remember what it actually said in wogspeak .
