One thing is for sure, we are in the middle of a major global shift which has been underway for a while. Things will not be the same as it once was, even recently. We are seeing these changes all over the world. I think this current financial collapse will hasten what we have already been watching, the leveling of the standard of living all over the world. Another term of this madness and I think even some myopic republicans will have had enough. McCain is yet another "yes man", maverick my arse. If he passed away in office, Palin would certainly be the end of the republican party....she's a hot headed hockey mum, nothing more. Intellectually impaired, with highly dysfunctional reasoning. She'd be dominated by the good ol' boys and America would diminish even further....but lots of fat cats would get fatter.... There's a distinct possibility of the republican party splintering I'd say. The extreme right and the moderates going in different directions.
