gawguy
Well I can't spell the damn name of the new airport, but this is what I want to do and I want to know if it's just routine as it should be. I will leave Thailand in December. I will have burned up my re-entry on my 1 yr "retirement" visa. I want to go to Vietnam for 2-3 weeks then come back and catch my scheduled flight out of BKK new airport without going thru Immigration. So can I just "transit", that is, not enter Thailand or go thru immigration. I haven't paid any attention to the signs for this because I've always just entered Thailand. Thanks for the help, Gaw Guy

samak
such a question can only come from a US-guy! transit is possible at most airports worldwide without going through immigration, except...USA! no problem at all in Bangkok!
CTO
Slow up a little - depends also on airline. If he fly's air asia - they don't do connecting luggage - so if he has luggage in the hold - he physically has to leave immigration to collect and re-enter

..
IME, you no longer need a visa to transit in China -- at least CAN, dunno about PEK (not done that in 10 years). Cheers, SD
shygye
You don't need a visa but you have to pass through immigration on an international-to- international connection. Link
samak
this is pretty strange! probably more like a passport check, not really immigration!? have you done this? plan to fly IAD-PEK-BKK in december (to avoid ORD) and don't want any troubles... ..
That's new Samak, maybe only 3-4 years. Used to be you needed a Chinese visa, and had to enter the country (same as US) to transit in China. Cheers, SD
