Hugh_Hoy
OJ Simpson, a double murderer who escaped conviction due to a fixed jury, finally got some serious years leveled at him today in Las Vegas. Stemmed from a robbery in a hotel there. Seems to be some confusion about how many years he will do, but it's at least six and maybe 30. Gotta be humbling for an asshole who killed two people in cold blood and then used his millions and a jury of his "peers" to walk away from his criminal trial. (He was later found guilty in a civil trial, but excaped prison or the death penalty on that one.) Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. rogueyam
Here's O.J.'s statement to the court prior to his sentencing. The dude is a mess. He just doesn't understand his place in the world.
Guest lazyphil
he wanted his stuff back, i think he's been convicted with his past innocent judgement. 15 years for trying to get personal belongings seems very harsh.
USVirgin
Or, as we leftists like to say, "He was convicted of theft and sentenced for murder." Something like that. Anyway, I'm glad to see that a USC supporter such as HH has an unbiased view of the man. OJ was certainly one of the best American football players of all time. Old Hippie
All the asshole had to do was stay out of trouble. Instead of humbling him, and making him grateful he wasn't getting bent over in prison before they executed him, he felt empowered by the not guilty verdict, and felt invincible. In short, all he had to do was stay out of trouble, but he couldn't do that. Getting his property back or not, he put himself in this position. He could have used lawyers, and what not. Instead, he chose to be a thug about it, and used muscle and guns. The court clearly saw this for what it is/was, which WAS NOT a matter of just getting his property back. He lost this one, and he is getting what he deserves. This is the penalty for what he did, nothing more.

cavanami
It's a shame that so often we see such people, rich and popular at one time, next time in jail and/or the gutter! This guy had a lot going for him and now, off to jail. Tsk, tsk, tsk
Flashermac
I recall reading a psychologist's opinion after OJ got off on the murder charges. The shrink said that OJ was now convinced he could get away with anything and was sure to get into trouble again. Yup, he did.

If he was repossessing a car, he would have been in trouble because of drawing weapons, but very rarely do these type of people ever get convicted.
