soongmak
I think I agree with LP. The Simpsons aren't considered child porn and neither are Bart, Lisa and Maggie but this isn't about them it's about them being portrayed out of context having sex. I'm totally not PC but I see the issue here. It's a drawing for christ sake! It maybe tasteless, but it's not kiddie porn. Where do you want to draw the line then? The smurfs? Can they have sex? Or is that kid porn too? Or if you write a story about bart and lisa simspon having sex? I think the line is fine where it was. And that was punishing any actual involvement of children. drogon
Agree with Soongmak Instead of worrying for some cartoons we, the western nations should spend more fighting the real pedos out there.... We become to damn PC when there are more serious issues.
Guest lazyphil
i was talking about the scorpions album cover, i lost the thread somewhat. the scorpions cover is gross. i'm not pc, but children should remain so, scummy marketers are always trying to sexualize children either by selling those vile bratz dolls or even high heled shoes for babies. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/3526511/Baby-high-heels-collection-launched.html who the fuck in their right mind would have their baby wear these?....mind bogglingly sick. USVirgin
There seems to be two seperate threads about this issue. I'm listening to the Scorpions 'Virgin Killer' as I type this. First heard it on a radio program from Loyola Marymount University in SoCal where the DJ played some obscure shit, especially The Scorpions first album, "Lonesome Crow." I'd pay visits to the studio while bringing along a couple of six-packs and some buds. Good times.
jonjon058
The lawyer for the defendant should have argued that Bart and Lisa were created in 1987. So despite their youthful appearance, that would make them 22 years old now.
..
That makes at least as much sense as the ruling. Cheers, SD
chelseafan
CF, that is a very suggestive and tasteless picture of a young girl borderline if not child pornography. i'm glad its banned and if you think something like this denotes a totalitarian state i think you are somewhat overly paranoid, respectfully I've already made a similar statement on another thread, however, you have to take it in context. The album cover was made over 25 years ago in a more innocent era. Are we now going to cover up history by banning what is now not acceptable? Do we now start banning classical litertature that was written many years ago but has references to homophobic or racial attitudes? I don't think the album is in good taste, but I also accept that it was done in a different age. I also didn't look at the picture and start having peadophillic thoughts. If the album was relased last week then of course it should be removed. With the current publicity, the album is probably more infamous now than it was then. Steve
I made a similar statement about context as well. Libraries and schools were banning The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The album cover is historical in my humble opinion of '70s rock.
