We all know that if you are, IE, Thomas and called Tom at home you will be called Tom in LOS untill you are close with the people then they will change it to Tommy. Odd that often girls who used guys nics in English get the ie or y added and in Tthailand boys get the ie or y added. I'm in that boat where people call me by my frang name but add the y since it would be for a girl! Of course it is even more fun when you accent the y rising high tone it really twists your name, but fun. I was told that one sould consider it a note of freindship that Thais change your name away from the female thai version. Matter not, as most just call me Papa!
