unit731
All coins are supposedly replaced soon and the 25 and 50 satang coins are supposedly abolished soon. Instant collectors item. Save them all. They will be worth something later.
Flashermac
Yeah. Probably 25 satang and 50 satang. p.s. The big old one baht coins sell for 5 or 10 baht. I've still got some 5 and 10 satang coins around somewhere.
..
They actually still make 1- and 10-satang coins... Circulation coins list. The blurb at the top says they still make the 5-satang coins too, but no pix or separate page for it so . Cheers, SD
Flashermac
But they aren't released. Only recent 1 and 5 satang coins I've seen have been in commemorative sets. In the 1970s you might buy something for 75 satang and be given a 5 and two 10 satang coins as change.
khunsanuk
Hi, Only large coin I have is a 20-Baht one with the King's mother on it. Also 5 different 5-Baht coins and 43 different 10-Baht coins. Sanuk!
Flashermac
The govmt considered replacing the 20-baht note with a coin, but the reaction to it was negative. People felt it was too big to carry around in your pocket. (Imagine 4 or 5 of them at a time.) Commemorative coins have been made in quite high denominations - mostly in gold. dddave
I think I still have a 10 baht bill. I haven't seen a ten Baht bill for several years now. They must have been withdrawn from circulation.
