HeartThais
http://www.bolan.co.th/ Reviews seem really good from everyone. Bit pricey.
Faustian
What kind of prices? Couldn't see any listed on the website.
HeartThais
From the reviews, typical entree is around 400-600. They have a tasting menu for 1500. Not cheap for thai food but not expensive for an upscale meal. Curious to check it out. http://bkmagazine.com/feature/bo-lan
samak
400-600 per dish for thai food in thailand! must be really special then!
khunsanuk
Hi, My thoughts exactly, Samak. No way I would pay that much for Thai food here, especially since there are many, many places where you can have good Thai food for a fraction of that price. Sanuk! HeartThais
There are cheap/tasty and upscale versions of every cuisine I can think of. The upscale versions aren't always worth the extra money but sometimes they are. Why should thai food be any different? I honestly don't know because I've never had upscale thai food. I ask because a lot of people seem to share your view about thai food whereas with say, italian food, no one argues that there might be a difference between Scoozi and L'opera. http://stomachsonlegs.blogspot.com/2009/02/bolan-essentially-thai-bangkok-thailand.html
khunsanuk
Hi, Appreciate what you say, but I personally have no desire to pay 10-20 times the 'normal' price for Italian food either. Looking at those photos (and yes, the place looks really nice), my first thought is that the majority of what you pay is for the atmosphere and decor. Anyway, part of the reason I don't eat at such places is most likely because I just couldn't justify the price. Can't afford it to be blunt. Sanuk! samak
no one argues that there might be a difference between Scoozi and L'opera. do you mind to explore more on this? IMO both do not belong (anymore) to the best italian restaurants in town!

Bangkoktraveler
With the Chefs sleeping upstairs, you can't return late at night and throw a rock thru the window. This is what you get for "refined authenicate Thai food".
