Palatkik Posted October 6, 2018 Report Posted October 6, 2018 Leave No Trace [2018] One of the best movies of the year that I've seen now out on Bluray download, a sublime story of a father fighting his demons and daughter living away from the grid in the Oregan rain forests, superbly acted all around.
radioman Posted October 6, 2018 Report Posted October 6, 2018 Hysteria (2011) Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Secretary, The Deuce) Very lightweight, supposedly humorous, no tits 😟 Lighthearted treatment of a serious subject. In the late Victorian period female hysteria was a condition essentially attributed to anything and everything. The treatment varied but in time it became recognised that regular genital massage could alleviate much of the condition. An unfortunate impact being that doctors who "specialised" in the technique began to suffer RSSI, perhaps not surprisingly. Until one enterprising chap stumbled upon a means to mechanize the process and so gave birth(sic) to the vibrator. This then is the story of the worlds favourite female toy. Supposedly based on Maines, The Technology of Orgasm, with some web info here: http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/issues/21/maines.php A fascinating topic which unfortunately the film does not do justice to. I'm sure there's a good mini documentary here just waiting to be made.
cavanami Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 Had to give it a watch, again... Apocalypse Now (1979) During the Vietnam War, Captain Willard is sent on a dangerous mission into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade Colonel who has set himself up as a god among a local tribe. Stars:Martin Sheen, Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall **** 1/2
My Penis is hungry Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 WHich version? Original or re-mastered? Original has no nudity, remastered does and is about 30 minutes longer
My Penis is hungry Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 Oddly, while I love gratuitous nudity, I think I prefer the original. Finding the French Plantation was a bit surreal for me, however I'd bow to Flashes comments as I would have zero idea of reality
Palatkik Posted October 8, 2018 Report Posted October 8, 2018 Fahrenheit 451 [2018] Made for TV modern glossy remake of the Bradbury classic, runs a little fast and dumbed down - a contender for a TV series perhaps? Worth a quick look at least.
cavanami Posted October 11, 2018 Report Posted October 11, 2018 The Man in the High Castle Season 3 The series has started. Episode 1 was a bit slow moving so maybe gets moving in the next episode. ****
cavanami Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 The Man in the High Castle Season 3 Episode 2 has stepped it up. Getting more interesting.
Palatkik Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 The Breadwinner [2017] Engaging animated film adaptation of the novel tells a sobering tale of a young girl growing up in 2001 Taliban controlled Afghanistan.
