Rebecca [2020 Movie]
A young newlywed arrives at her husband's imposing family estate on a windswept English coast and finds herself battling the shadow of his first wife, Rebecca, whose legacy lives on in the house long after her death. This mediocre Netflix remake of the original Hitchcock 1940 movie and two separate TV series remakes over the years since, based on the Daphne du Maurier novel, seems superfluous in the extreme albeit still entertains.

Disclaimer [2024 TV]
When an intriguing new novel with a disclaimer leading header appears at the table of a television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing transgressions, she is horrified to realize the books key character is based on her own past. Seven part mini series psychological drama based on the 2015 novel of the same name, is stylish and beautiful to watch, but the final plot twist in the last episode is sadly a let down for what might have been something better. Worth a look nevertheless.

Sugarcane [2024 Movie]
An investigation into abuse and missing children at an Indian residential school sparks a reckoning on the nearby Sugarcane Reserve in Canada. This NatGeo movie is a hard hitting damning of past atrocities and infanticide by the catholic church missions that finally closed in 1997, one of the years most powerful documentaries, worth seeing.

Small Things Like These [2024 Movie]
In 1985 devoted father Bill Furlong discovers disturbing secrets kept by the local convent and uncovers shocking truths of his own. A masterclass lead performance in a subtle low key drama about one of Ireland's often told stories related to its disturbing history of abuse.

Heretic [2024 Movie]
Two young religious women are drawn into a game of cat-and-mouse in the house of a strange man. The lead brings an unusual mix of horror and amusement in a low budget flick that is worth a look for those into the otherwise preposterous horror genre.
