A Complete Unknown [2024 Movie]
In 1961, an unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrives in New York City with his guitar and forges relationships with musical icons on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking performance at the Newport that reverberates around the world. Based on his early years from the book Dylan Goes Electric, a superb lead performance, support cast and soundtrack makes for a wonderful movie.

SAS Rogue Heroes [2022 TV]
SAS: Rogue Heroes charts the creation of the famed Special Forces unit. Based on the book by Ben Macintyre. Currently into a second season, season 1 is entertaining down and dirty second world war heroics shown with a modern style production vibe and soundtrack. Worth seeing.

I'm gonna binge series two, after my next infusion (Pembrolizumab - means cupla-three days TV rest).

I'm hoping the second is as good as the first.

First series excellent, second not so good, over acting and silly exaggerations from the main character and historical inaccuracies. Yes we know it's not a documentary, but there are limits to twisting the facts.

The Brutalist [2024 Movie]
When a visionary architect and his wife flee post-war Europe in 1947 to rebuild their legacy and witness the birth of modern United States, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious, wealthy client. At over three hours split in two chapters with an intermission, heavy going but absorbing.

Amazing, should have won best film at the DEI wards, not enough blacks in it, and the 2 that were they invented. Actress playing Joan Baez was incredible.

Absolute trash, long, slow, boring and pointless.

Zero Day - TV Mini Series 2025

"In the midst of crisis: how can we discover the truth when it seems that the world is being destroyed by uncontrollable forces? Also, to what extent are conspiracy theories our own inventions or products of our imagination?"

No spoilers  -

Robert De Niro plays an ex president brought out of retirement to solve the giant big country-threatening problem.

A jaunt through the USA government at the high levels.

They didn't seem to reference any current players, except perhaps the Speaker... And they avoided any Drumpf like stuff, refreshingly showing the USA without him.

De Niro, Jesse Plemons and Lizzy Kaplan give fine performances.

If anything, the effort was made to give us USA watchers, some satisfaction that the USA will survive near catastrophe.

I enjoyed this, a bit lightweight for serious thinkers, but right in the middle of the solar plexus for yer average Joe.

A good watch

Black Doves [2024 TV]
The home secretary’s wife embarks on an affair with a man who has no idea of her secret identity. Caught in the crosshairs and the dangerous London underworld, her employers call in another assassin from the Black Doves, a spies-for-hire organization to protect her. Entertaining action initial series implies more to come, but despite a strong cast it seems like mindless Netflix production line writing with miscast characters to meet DEI quotas.

Anora [2024 Movie]
A young escort and exotic dancer from Brooklyn meets and impulsively marries the twenty one year old son of a Russian oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairy tale is threatened as his parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled. Wonderfully chaotic drama and lead performance, gritty realism, one of the years best movies.

True, the second series curse. It's now a class struggle between the main character and the toffs, but the story still has legs.

Pros: some excellent music, including such "WWII classics" as - Counting the Beat~Swingers and Highway Star~Deep Purple. 🤪

Con" Femme Fatale Sofia Boutella, though beautiful eye candy, flits about the front line of WWII with all the grace of a girl elbowing her way into a Prom.
