bust
30 minutes ago, Old Hippie said: Just watch “Territory” on Netflix, a 6 part series about an Australian cattle baron. Maybe loosely based on Kerry Packer He owned one covering some 10,353 square kilometers with about 45,000 cattle in a notably well-watered area of the Northern Territory. Reminds me of the famous story. One of the more well-known Kerry Packer stories involves a loudmouth Texan and what might be the most alpha way to tell another bloke he should shut the fuck up. As confirmed by Mirage Resorts boss Bobby Baldwin, Packer was playing at a table when the Texan in question asked to join. The former clearly wanted to be left alone; the latter didn’t accept rejection in the most gracious manner. “I’m a big player too. I’m worth $100 million,” said the Texan. At which point Packer produced a coin from his pocket and said, “I’ll flip you for it.” Needless to say, old mate tucked his tail between his legs and quietly returned to his table for the rest of the evening. Palatkik
A Real Pain [2024 Movie] Mismatched cousins reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, but their old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history. Award winning touching emotional roller coaster drama with two solid believable leads.
Palatkik
The Return [2024 Movie] After 20 years Odysseus finally returns to Ithaca, where he finds his wife held prisoner by suitors vying to be king and his son facing death at their hands. To win back his family and all he has lost, Odysseus must rediscover his strength. Based on the Homer's Iliad fictional myth, this has two big name leads talk it out wisely in a simple caveman style melodrama. Average at best. Palatkik
Blitz [2024 Movie] Director Steve McQueen follows the journey of a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother sends him to safety in the English countryside. Defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in various perils, while a distraught mother searches for her missing son. An unusual war drama, expensive looking production, with subversive mixed messages that come across as flawed at times. Unusual to see Paul Weller of the Jam in a role! Palatkik
Landman [2024 TV] A modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of Permian Basin West Texas oil. A solid lead performance keeps the oil drama pumping, in a stylish but otherwise cliched cowboy macho style actioner. The script, with a nod to the anti-woke brigade will appeal to certain audiences. A second series beckons as this becomes addictive.

The director clearly wanted to make a film about racism, but he should not have used the Blitz as a subject for this purpose. It is silly at best and disrespectful at worst and makes for a thoroughly confused and pointless film. Woke propaganda, in the war London was 99% white, but you would not think so looking at this
Palatkik
Lockerbie: A Search for Truth [2025 TV] Based on the true events of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie in 1988. A doctor who lost his daughter seeks justice and the truth, and still strives for such today. A strong lead just holds the interest in an otherwise slow moving five part mini series, yet watching this can be a frustration with excessive melodramatics and no clear conclusion. A new trial is set for later in the year of this release.
Palatkik
Blue Lights [2023 TV] Follows rookie police officers working in Belfast, a city in which being a front-line response cop comes with unique pressures and dangers as it mixes confrontations within the police, drug pushers and communities. Yet another police series, and yet another quality one worth seeing. Excellent character development and believable stories on a budget. A second series is already out with more scheduled. Palatkik
Nosferatu [2024 Movie] A gothic tale remake of the obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. High budget, professional looking production, dramatic cinematography, a strong cast, this is strictly for the horror genre audience with a penchant for the absurd.
