khunsanuk
Hi, "Doesn’t make the comment any less accurate though." How so? Barry already quantified it by saying that the reason was not wanting to support banks that charge for international cards. Mekong assumed Barry hadn't understood the original post. Sanuk! carew66
Some syntactic ambiguity I think: I interpreted ThaiHome to mean that my comment was no less accurate.

clubsiam
Bangkok Bank. I opened an acct. there years ago. That was easy but my subsequent visits turned me off. Rude, rude, rude. Are they lazy or just hate their customers I wonder? HSBC is a professional operation but not easy to open an acct. Maybe get an HSBC Acct. back home first? Would that work? Mekong
HSBC Foreign Curreny Accounts in Thailand are a waste of space, GBP50K to open and next to no intrest. Better to open MMCA with HSBC in SG or HK IMHO then just transfer it into THB to Thai account as and when, I find it easier to use a BBL or K-Bank ATM card in Thailand than my HSBC one.
