RIP http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.php?IDNEWS=0000010668 INCINERATED FOREIGNER MAY HAVE BEEN KILLED BY MAFIA POLICE THINK Pattaya, 13 October,2009, [PDN]: the unidentified dead body of a foreigner was found burnt on a pyre of 5 car tires by a bushwalker on 7 October, 2009, who, helped by a group of locals, put out the fire. Following police investigation, a senior police spokesman announced on 13 October that he thought it likely there was some foreign mafia involvement in the murder. Borthong Police were originally notified at 9.00 am, on 7 October, that the incinerated body of foreign man, aged about 30 and 175 cm tall, had been found in a sugarcane field near Nernmoke-Tablang Road, Moo. 7, Borthong,Chonburi. His head was covered by a towel and had been extensively hacked, seven wounds having been inflicted by a sharp implement . No documents or any other evidence was found to identify who he was. The murder shocked the local Chonburi residents. Police then began extensive investigations, with detectives questioning locals in the area and following up all reports of missing foreigners. After nearly a week, on 13 October 2009, Police Major General Tanet Pinmeung Ngagm, Chonburi Police Commandant, announced that there was suspicion that a foreign mafia gang was involved and said he had commanded Police Colonel Pakorn Maneepakorn, Borthong Police Superintendent to collaborate with Pattaya and Sattahip police to investigate the case further. "We just need to create awareness because there's always someone out there who saw something, and may not be aware (that) it's connected to someone who's missing," a police spokesman told PDN.
