Flashermac
Can't anyone explain to the idiot that he is a head of state - and leader of the most powerful nation in the world? << Contrary to some claims, the video shows no reciprocal bow by the emperor, who traditionally bows to no one. ... How low will the new American president go for the world's royalty? >> Yes suh, massah ...
Julian2
It's just good manners Flash, he's not kissing his ass. I'll agree that manners haven't been a common trait in past presidents though. He does tend to get down a bit low though doesn't he? Sure there's not a bit of right wing PhotoShopping there? Flashermac
Nope. The photo is real. Strange that I don't remember seeing him bow when he met QE II. p.s. The President represents the country. It has always been policy that presidents don't bow to royalty ... and the US flag is never dipped to the flag of another country. Obie should have been made aware of that, though his knowledge of American history is a bit scanty. There's a difference between being polite and being a silly prat. Wonder if O'Bama would kiss the pope's ring. (The one on his finger ...)
cavanami
If you bow, you do NOT shake hands and vica versa...the USA has a royal moron at the helm...can you say, "crash and burn"???
colorwolf
... It has always been policy that presidents don't bow to royalty ... and the US flag is never dipped to the flag of another country. ... ah yes, all because the US of A is god's own country, the one country that doesn't have to listen to/respect/consider anyone or anything else. "tradition? f*** that! we're the US of farkin A! we can and will do as WE please. "we're guests in another country? oh no, they're guests on our planet. everyone, everywhere bows to us!" why can't you yanks lose a bit of you chauvinistic bs? the world would surely approve...but then again, you don't give a rat's ass about others' opinions, do you? Hugh_Hoy
I've been surprised not see Borat Obama at a memorial in Nagasaki or Hiroshima...and apologizing for the U.S.'s "insensitivity". HH

kamui
I guess for our US fellows politics is only symbolic today. I mean, it seems to have cause a huge shock that Obama bowed to its closest ally in Asia - while the whole US industry is virtually on its knees, hitting the forehead on the ground in front of China.... GWB of course was different. And you can see how much the German Chancellor enjoyed it during a G-8 summit like the rest of world (while China can't stop grinning that its biggest enemy imploded in front of the eyes due to it's own incompetence).
