I'm sort of young to remember too much about Ike. But at least the Pope bowed back.

 

 

But you had been the one who had invoked the US tradition in the first place and Charles De Gaulle clearly did not bow back.

Therefore it's not the best move to claim not knowing the tradition. :)

Maybe it is nice to see some humility from the US Prez?

 

Why can't we all play nice...not so difficult :dunno:

 

I guess complaining about a symbolic gesture - like bowing to a foreign leader - is an act of compensation for the loss of real economical and political power.

What causes the attention is that Obama did not bow to European royals or heads of state (as far as I know). He's only been photographed doing it to Asians.

 

This must hurt...

...especially all expats who left the States, because they prefer to live in Asia.
