Notebook price request

Hi all,

 

I'm buying another niece, another laptop, and in the past I've bought a good second hand one here and taken to LOS on one of my trips.

 

This time I may just send money to the family.

 

If any one knows, could you please give me an estimate of what a low/mid range laptop may sell for new in LOS, something like Compaq, HP, Acer etc and normal specs.

 

Bht 10,000, 15,000, 20,000?

 

Any guesses gratefully received.

last i checked was about 18 months ago. low end was about 15000, but that was price-wise (for new). Prices, as u know in the LOS, are way high. For instance, a 1 gig, 160 hard drive was in the neighborhood of 24000 And the MS operating system wasn't even "genuine" !!!

On sale, I can get the same machine (HP/Acer/ASUS) for less than 12000.

I've never had luck with used in Thailand: people don't realistically value used stuff, especially computers. Here's a pretty good shop with branches in Bkk and Pattaya (and elsewhere).

Around 20-30k and you should be good. Lower than that and your looking at poor quality or you're looking at a netbook and not a laptop.

 

I say, send the kid an iPad and make her/him the village rockstar
