OH, you are correct the Federal Reserve is NOT any part of the US gov.

Easy test, try to find the Federal Reserve in the "blue pages" of the phone book, as the blue pages list gov agencies...NOT THERE!

You will find the Federal Reserve in the white pages along with Fed Ex and all the other commercial companies.

Apparently AT&T is now the official arbiter of what agency is and is not part of the Federal Government???

Get a grip Cav.

I am not listed in the phone book either...yet I am almost certain I do exist...

From Wiki...

According to the board of governors of the Federal Reserve, "It is not 'owned' by anyone and is 'not a private, profit-making institution'. Instead, it is an independent entity within the government, having both public purposes and private aspects."[11] The U.S. Government does not own shares in the Federal Reserve System or any of its component banks, but the Government does receive all of the system's annual profits after a statutory dividend of 6% on member banks' capital investment is paid and an account surplus is maintained. The government also exercises some control over the Federal Reserve by appointing and setting the salaries of the system's highest-level employees. The Federal Reserve transferred a record amount of $45 billion to the U.S. Treasury in 2009.[12]

It is part of the Federal government. Its website is http://www.federalreserve.gov, part of the Federal governments .gov domain. :neener:

Let's see what else is not listed in the "blue pages" in my local phone book,

Supreme Court

FBI

CIA

NSA

US Marshalls

NTSA

Senate

White House

NASA

NOAA

So according to your "tin hat" criteria, all of these are not part of the Federal government. :rotl:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_reserve

-kind of dances around the subject.

The most important line is in the second paragraph from the top, "numerous other private U.S. member banks and various advisory councils".

What is good for Wall Street is not always what is best for the American people on Main Street. Most of the mortgages in the US could have been paid in full with the amount of money that went to bailouts and bonuses.

You do the research! The US Constitution does not mention the FBI, CIA, Air Force, NASA, CDC, NIH, Dept of Education, HUD, Dept of Agriculture, EPA, FAA, FDA, DEA, etc.

So according to your new "tin hat" criteria none of these are a part of the Federal government!

You just believe and NEVER test these assumptions! That is why it is so easy to rip your assertions to shreds.

Then why does the US gov pay INTEREST to the Federal Reserve? where does this interest money go?

Why has the GAO NEVER did an audit on the Federal Reserve?

You can believe the misinformation provided by the vested interest group that feed off the Federal Reserve or your can do your research...and yes, the FBI, etc is not in the constitution but it is also NOT part of this thread...and they ARE listed in the phone book blue pages.
