Flashermac
<< One thing about Korean security guards. They tend to be old ex-military types who act out of devotion to job (and home countrymen) with little regard for legality and consequences. >> We liked to have the Koreans around us in RVN. The other side of the An Khe pass from us was the South Korean Marines' AO. Charlie learned quickly not to mess with the Koreans. One night the Korean Marines killed a couple of commie sappers trying to blow up a bridge they guarded. They cut off their heads and stuck them on poles in the concertina wire. Decidedly un-Geneva Convention, but hell the commies did it too - so why not? (A South Vietnamese Army interpreter had been caught one night by the NVA. They killed him, chopped of his head and put it on the road outside the base camp. The ARVN soldier's wife never found more than her husband's head to bury.) Bangkoktraveler
It appears the 3 cops that showed up were bicycle cops - not the most prestigious job on the force. Could 3 cops have used mace or tasers to subdue the man or was it more convenient to shot him several times in the head? When the cops arrived, I doubt they knew his legal/illegal status but it appears that his illegal status was grounds for killing him.
cavanami
Rule of thumb...if someone comes at you with intent to injure/kill you: ...they come at you with their fists, use the billy cub/taser/mace on them! ...they have a club, taser them! ...they have a knife, shot them! In other words, you always use a more deadly force to protect yourself and keep some advantage.

BadaBing
or , if your Sharon Tate , bring a gun to a knife slaughter hosted by Charlie Manson....
Old Hippie
Maybe if she and the other victims had had a guns, they'd still be alive? The issue is how much of a threat to these cops was this guy? 25 feet? 10 feet? charging up on them or others? it makes a difference. In San Jose California a few years back, a cop shot a Vietnamese woman who had a "knife." He said he told her repeatedly to drop the knife...trouble was, she didn't speak English, he shot her, she was 25 feet away and there was a screen door between them...he got away with it...I think that is wrong... Flashermac
Off topic ... there is a sign near my house for a condo called "Charlie Mansion". Only the text in Thai reads Charlie MANSON! Does anyone really want to live there? p.s. Besides Cav, that is.
