Nervous God
Well, thank you! Fine words, i agree, age doesn't always mean wisdom.
limbo
Ayuthaya is just an hour or so away by train, can easily make it out and back within a day! The forensic museum in the Sriraja hospital grounds is pretty amazing as well.
Nervous God
Munchie, oh is correct above. Well worth the trip. The restaurant is great. It looks a lot like a car park. 4 or 5 stories high, open sides that look over the ship yards and fish markets. You find it beside a large park. When you arrive at the train station it's a terminus stop. Facing back the way you came, the train ticket office is on your right, go through and walk out. When you hit the street, turn right. You'll come to a large road, park opposite, restaurant on the left. Check the time the trains leave for bangkok. Give yourself time to explore the market around the train station. Old Hippie
Ayuttaya is great! But I would suggest a drive up, and the barge back, get a view along the water...
cavanami
Last time I did the tour, 2 years ago or so, it was like 2500 Baht. Take the bus tour up there, stopping off at the King's summer resort (or something like that on the way up).Do the tour of Ayuttaya and take the boat back. About a four hour boat ride back and they included a nice lunch/dinner buffet. Beer/drinks, extra. Well worth the money, IMO.

Nervous God
Shit TB - you should have mentioned the Canals! Munchie, the train station isn't to far from the canal area of Bangkok, a great area, no need for a 1500 baht experience, go Thai and get the 2 hour 110 baht tour, comes with free soft drink and really bad seats, but good fun
The_Munchmaster
...Munchie, the train station isn't to far from the canal area of Bangkok,...
