Pom Michael
But the place is now on Soi 24 (between Suk and Rama 4) is what I think Lizard King means. I think they still have the same sign "If it swims we have it" out front. http://www.seafood.co.th/ Cheers!
Coss
pricey? or reasonable?
LizardKing
There was still a seafood market-type place in the old location (Suk-Asoke) until recently. And they did have that reputation. Of being a ripoff. And they had touts on the street, which to me is a sure sign of not being worth while. The one on 24 (I means between 24 & 26 in the original reply), the original one, is fine, if expensive. Fun for a night out with a group of folks tho'. http://www.seafood.co.th
LizardKing
pricey? or reasonable? A little spendy by Thai standards. But well worth it on occasion in my opinion. It is best if with at least three couples. With just a couple, it is not as much fun and more expensive per capita. Figure B1k/head in a group or B1.5k+/head as a couple. Not including beer/booze/wine.
The_Munchmaster
There was still a seafood market-type place in the old location (Suk-Asoke) until recently.... R u sure? The old location was the corner of Suk (even number side) and Ratchadaphisek (Asoke). The seafood market was replaced by an office tower (now called the Pornpat Centre) which started construction during the mid 90's construction boom but was never completed and remained empty until a few years ago. However I think there is another seafood place on the same side of Sukhumvit but nearer to Soi 14?
LizardKing
Ya, yer right. I was confusing the two. I'm thinking of the one near 14 that was the rip off joint. That's gone now (not moved AFAIK). BTW, that building is now finished, has been for a couple of years now, and is called Exchange Tower (not to be confused with Interchange across the street). I call it the "Superman Bldg." because it reminds me of the Daily Planet bldg in the first Chris Reeve Superman movie.
Pom Michael
The rip off place is now an Urban Spa. After the Seafood place (also part of the Thai First house which is now Los Cabos) - it was Sports Academy, which is now in the Thermae building. Yep, that's why I said "and remained empty until a few years ago". Re. it's name it's called Pornpat Centre on Google Earth and web searches for both Exchange Tower and Pornpat Centre result in the same building!
