khunsanuk
Hi, Sorry, but a lot of this is just common sense. My Mom is a competely techno newbie. However she IS smart enough to not open any attachments from people she doesn't know. As a result she has never had any virus on her machine either. Yes, I did install a virus scanner on her machine when I was last there and configured it to update automatically. She never touches it though, hasn't a clue about it. Not saying Windows is perfect, but you are also never gonna convince me that Macs are WAY better. Just not buying it. Sanuk!
Coss
you win macs are just puffery and I reckon with the advent of Lion, we're going to lose the computer part of the experience, now it'll be all about consuming

Redbaron
Re: Ubuntu Gave it a crack this morning (running via CD), looks pretty and feels great, will install it properly when I work out how to use it a bit better and can train the GL on its quirks. Thanks again for the idea.
Boo Radley
Hi, I'm running Windows 7 on a 64-bit machine as well since Dec '10. Not had a blue screen since I started using it. Sanuk! Hi KS, Do you recommend going with the 32 or 64 bit version for Win 7? Am thinking about software compatibility.
kamui
Hi KS, Do you recommend going with the 32 or 64 bit version for Win 7? Am thinking about software compatibility. As I understand 64 bit Windows makes only sense if you use software which eats up a lot of resources (video cut, e.g.) and/or if you want to put a lot of RAM in your PC. Standard software like MS Office won't run any faster on a 64 bit system, and some older software doesn't run on a 64 bit OS at all.
khunsanuk
Hi, Not sure about older software not running, not had any issues myself. As for what I'd recommended, well, seems a bit pointless having a 64-bit machine and not taking advantage of it, right? Sanuk!
