Coss
link Deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra should return home to fight the legal cases against him and prove his claims of innocence, Rak Santi party list MP Purachai Piumsombun said on Thursday.Mr Purachai, a former interior minister in a Thaksin government, said if Thaksin could prove his innocence he could the sue whoever was responsible for making false charges against him. He said this when asked to comment on the ongoing move to seek a royal pardon for Thaksin. Thaksin should have the courage to appear before the court to restore his honour and dignity, he said. "I believe Pol Lt-Col Thaksin, who graduated from the police academy and finished a Phd in criminology, knows all the procedures," Mr Purachai added. When asked if that by returning Thaksin could risk being put in jail, Mr Puchai said Nelson Mandela, a former president of South Africa, had been in jail for many years before he became the country's leader when he was 80 years old. "This is a matter of principles and ideology," he said.

cavanami
Let's sum it up...I have mountains of money, I claim to be innocent but I fled the country...hmmmmm, guess he doesn't have much faith in the Thai legal system
khunsanuk
Hi, If he is innocent, why does he need to be pardoned? There is no way Thaksin will come back and stand trial. The only way he comes back is if he is convinced he will not have to stand trial or go to jail. Sanuk!
Flashermac
Maybe this is a coded message to say ... "Come on back, Big Bro. We've fixed the courts so that you will be declared innocent and everything returned to you (including the country)."
Coss
of course, should he return, his non-fans will feel very aggrieved and that could set the stage for a really nasty year or two...

Maybe he will get a pardon before his trial so no matter what the out come of the trial is he is innocent. Remember...... Thai thinking 101?
