Flashermac
You may have 2 antivirus programs running! Disable that ESET program and see if that fixes the frozen mouse. Run memtest overnight. I tried to delete the ESET program, but it shows it is there with no option to get rid of it! I wanted to dump it and download another program. Damned ESET won't let me download something else. The mouse is behaving fine right now. But at other times, it becomes almost unusable. Maybe I should call the monks over and have them tie string to it and chant.

If XP Control Panel / Add Remover Programmes If 7 Control Panel / Programmes & Features Click on ESET then UNISTALL, I had ESET installed on My Windows Laptop last year and removed it this way. As for advice, since you are used to PC's and only use it for Surfing and emails I don't think you could justify the additional expense of going for a MAC. I would wait until September when Windows 8 is released and see what is available then to fit your budget.

I would wait until September when Windows 8 is released and see what is available then to fit your budget. Four thoughts: Mac's seem to have a much longer time span. Sometimes I see very old machines for simple tasks like emailing (G4 or G5 iMacs) still being used as office machines. Of course as soon you get an iPhone or iPad you can forget those machines, since you need the latest software for it, which doesn't run on the old Macs. And yes, I would be ill-advised to buy a Windows PC before Window 8 is coming out If you PC reboots frequently it might be a heat related problem. For example the power adapter could be damaged or some fans are not working properly and the processor overheats. :A good PC repair shop will run a 12-24 hour test and will find the problem. If you have problem to delete software Windows might be damaged due to malware or defective software. :Backup your data, wipe the harddisk clean and do a clean install of Windows. Redbaron
Didn't Windows 7 only just come out? And wasn't it supposed to be un-bloated and wonderful? No wonder I get confused easily... May upgrade myself soon, thankfully one of the lads at work has a son who builds PC's and he can give me some no bullshit advice.

Since Apple is updating its OS once a year Windows came under severe pressure to updates its OS much more frequently. But there is still one major difference: the Apple OS just costs 29 US$ and one licence is enough for the whole family, while the Windows Home Premium upgrade for 3 PCs is around 130 USD (if I remember right). chelseafan
Which is what I do with Macs. That and an advantage of apple is that once the learning curve from PC to Mac (not hard) is accomplished, you wonder why you put up with windows foibles... Spoken like a true mac-owner

Windows "Home Premium" had nothing in it worth paying money for, in my case at least. It did look pretty though. Admittedly I only use my laptop for surfing, looking at porn, looking at documentaries, banking, stocks, email, tax returns, spreadsheets, word docx, etc. If I was a "hardcore gamer" (like some of the lads at work) my current setup just wouldn't cut the mustard. danno6
I got a macbook air about 18 months ago to replace my PC. Main reason was for integration with itunes, apple tv, iphone and (as of a couple of months ago) ipad. For this it is great. I had little problem transitioning from PC to mac - my only complaint in this regard is that I hate iphoto - it sucks (still cannot upload to facebook from iphoto, duplicates every photo for facial recognition, etc.). My biggest complaint is trying to use the mac with a wireless printer - which seams better suited to windows-based computers. Also, since I download alot of tv shows on itunes, the memory of the macbook air was quickly filled, with options for external storage not that great (itunes sucks in this regard - not related to the hardware). Overall i guess i would do it again......while there is a little premium for the apple hardware (when compared to long standing reputable pc manufacturers) it isnt too outrageous

Will never own another desktop computer again, pc or mac. Typing this on a Vista desktop on its very last legs. After it goes... that's it. Just laptop or tablet. What pushed me into the mac camp finally was simple: the trackpad. Don't like using a mouse, and no windows laptop I've used can compare with the trackpad on a mac. Still mastering the OS and nooks/crannies of Leopard, but certainly happy with the laptop. Nae Nae kap. Understatement. Will always keep options open. Maybe throw a Linux distro on the desktop and get some more mileage....
